Some LCD advice

So im currently browsing around for a 42" LCD that I can use as a pc monitor, to play video games and watch movies. Now, I already found a couple good ones, but heres the stumper for me.

I found one thats 1080p though the contrast ratio is only 1000:1

OTOH, the 720p ver. has a 1600:1 contrast ratio.

The two are very close in price(under a grand), so I wanted to ask if the loss of 600 contrast worth going to 1080p or is it much better to have better contrast though being stuck at only 720p.

I know some will suggest "why not get a 24" comp monitor" or "spend $$$ more and you can get ____" but I've already looked into that and my question is really the one that fits into my current situation ;)

The 1000:1 is likely static contrast and the 1600:1 is likely dynamic contrast. I'd go with the HD panel since 1000:1 static CR is already very good anyway. BTW which models are these?

Westinghouse are very good LCDs even though they don't have the same brand recognition like Sharps and Sonys, but that's also why they're more affordable.
