Vanguard:SOH should bring new interesting gameplay and features.

WoW is a great game, it didn't try to do a lot of innovative things, but it did a lot of things very good.
A MMOG that you can build on is what counts. From the looks of it, WoW is very extensible. The PvP and battelgrounds will make the game more fleshed out, and in the futre they may add flight and other features.

Key for me is, I can accomplish most tasks in WoW in 2hrs, that's about the time it takes to watch a good movie. I do not need to grind.

It could have been more complex, but there is room for growth.

    Speng.

What makes you say this? I'll be very surprised if that group manages to turn out anything half way decent.

Rumor - SOH cancelled for a "XXXXXX" MMO.

I obviously disagree about WoW being great (although I really liked the trade skills), but I see what you're saying. But considering the development time and most likely huge budget that was available to Blizzard, I don't think most publishers/devs will just think 'Ok, lets use WoW as a baseline and build from there'. But then again, I guess since most won't have the time/money that Blizzard had, they could opt for innovation instead.

This is of course also very much my opinion, but for those that only want 1-2 hours sessions, I just find Guild Wars to be a far better and more rewarding experience. What it lacks is the 40 people raids, but it's not like those are going to be available for people only wanting to spend 1-2 hours on WoW either, heh.

And sorry for making this yet another WoW thread :)

I really like how 'hardcore' is turning into a synonym for 'stupid' these days :D

"I told you I was hardcore!" - Never forget!

Odd thread choice to necro just to bring up that bit again. ;) I mean, if you want to start talking about superhero MMO's in general, say so! :p

Meanwhile, I'm not sure where the Sigil/Marvel commentary is coming from. I haven't heard any specific news about the Marvel MMO for ages.

Yea, I just choose to reply to the thread where I first mentioned it.

As for Sigil & Marvel commentary, GU Comics is now hinting at I what said earlier; Marvel being six letters, the # of X's I used in my earlier post.

MS bought the license some time ago (shortly before my initial post) for a STUPID amount of money (no I won't give figures but it's guaranteed to be a loss leader).

I do think that the "end game" is the problems with these games. The lvl grind that i went through in both EQ and DAOC started to come into play when moving on to WOW and I just felt my time was spent better on shorter gaming times and I just didnt want to go through the grind like I did with previous titles. I really like WOW but it didnt suck me in the way say EQ or DAOC did early on just felt like it was missing something and I couldnt put my finger on it.

I tried SWG but I was one of the people who bought it on launch day and went through the crap that was the growing pains. I played for about 2 months but I felt more like I was beta testing then playing. When I get a little "grudge" from a title it takes alot to get me to accept it again. As much as I like the franchise the game couldnt bring me to feel like I was part of the SWG universe after that :?

COH really had me going for a nice MMO but again although it was good it just lost my interest around lvl 15 and couldnt keep it after that. Another game that I just cant put my finger on but I just lost interest :? (Although I might give it another try after COV comes out)

Im currently playing Guild Wars and it brings a new "twist" to the genre but Im not putting in the gaming time I use to in MMO. :D

Short answer? Nothing. Longer answer, everything since no one is playing it...
