Snail Games will release 2 "gamingsmartphones" and 1 console called "OBox" next year. The 2 phones will run Android, while OBox runs "tailored OS based on Android"

Any thoughts on the underlying tech, could this be one of the two semi-custom design wins AMD got recently?

Another Android based gaming console ready for the BBQ?

Seriously, even if the console is spec'd beyond PS4/XB1... it's the uphill battle of securing worthy developers, establishing a nice size userbase, and having the funds (millions-upon-millions) on funding this, seems highly unlikely. UNLESS, the pricing is so attractive ($99-149), China becomes the new number #1 defacto gaming market, major developers are flocking to it - because of the new market shift, Sony/MS/Nintendo have squandered any opportunities there, consumers are flocking to it, and the android OS, is well, less android-y. THEN, the system may have a chance.

As for the cell phone part, don't we have enough android based phones as it is? Seriously another one...

Edit: Also, "OBox" - really? :/

The main thing I can think of when seeing that article........MS called and wants their original Xbox colors back.

It's a phone styled like a PSP. Probably naff for taking calls, but might be reasonable for games and texting, someting people have asked of Vita.
