looks like another out of date unreal engine game...

i didnt expect the game too look as good as the media from e3 or whatever event they showcased it at, but this is a ridiculously huge step down.

Who cares? Serious Sam isn't about being a graphical showcase, but a fun game where you mindlessly blow away hundreds of enemies on the screen alone or with buddies in Co-Op.

Also, Unreal Engine 2 games look fine to me (yes I know this isn't a UE2 game), and not everything needs to be as advanced as Doom 3.

I think the problem here is that SS2 was an ATi showcase for 3Dc so it "became" a graphical showcase. Compared to what we saw last year at GDC, this screenshot looks dated.

Very true. But I expected, even watching those demos that, a level of detail like that shown in a Serious Sam game, wouldn't at all be reasonable on modern hardware.

I'm with Hovz here, I expected more from it. These shots are a bit dissapointing for a future game, but on the other hand lets wait for some better ones with highres images... offcourse the game could be fun, but I'm not impressed with this after seeing the old techdemo's one year ago..

You don't even know on what system and with what ingame settings the screenshot were taken. For all we know it could be from xbox.

Hmm. . . Looks like no self-shadowing. . . but that's about all you can tell from the screenshots. Everything is definitely normal-mapped, of course. The quality of their shaders is difficult to evaluate due to their choice of artistic style (cartoonish).
