Screenspace ambient occlusion: Possible to be made a mutator for UT3 (PC)?

I'm just a 3d artist, not a programmer, so pardon me if this question sounds silly. :LOL:

Anyway, recently Epic showed Gears of War 2 having SSAO, like some other newer engines (CryEngine 2, Offset Engine, etc.).

So, is this something a knowledgeable modder/programmer could do, or would this be something source-code related that external modders would not have access to?

you would need the sourcecode to the renderer and its not been released by epic and probably wont ever, not for gears of war, maybe ut3 has a slim chance
the source for the renderer for the orignal ut has, someones allready added hdr to it no reason why ssao cant be added

Rayne might be the guy to see over this, he added AA, dynamic shadows & reflections, enhanced blood pools reflections, enhanced transparent water, enhanced blood fields, enhanced aura vision to bloodrayne2
it was several months work though, so dont expect him to do it for you
