Heh.. maybe ATI should rename everything to include SUPER ULTRA on the end... one upmanship on NV

"First one, is a GeForce FX 5600 Ultra card. This will be aimed perhaps at highest end of mainstream market. Geforce FX 5600 non-ultra might also be introduced but that still remains unclear at this time. Second card, GeForce FX 5200 Ultra will be aimed at higher end of low end market or middle/low part of mainstream market. Finally, GeForce FX 5200 non-ultra model will be aimed at low/entry level of the market"

/me puts some Warp 9 Uber Ultra Go faster stickers on his 9700Pro.....

These drivers have been out for a while now, I'm surprised that no one had checked that before!

You wouldn't want ATi to one-up Nvidia. You might have to wear hearing protection because the fan would be so loud.

We trust Omega and others to check up on things like that, or atleast people as lazy as I am do... ;)

9200 and 9200 Pro? Higher clocked RV280? Surely they wouldn't compound the 8500/9000/9100 travesty further by just using that label for 8x AGP alone, with 9000 level performance? :-? (Say it ain't so!)

That leaves the 9600...it doesn't have a "Pro" listing, but neither do the 9700 and 9800. Anyways, seems clear how the RV350, R300, and R350 fit into that sequence...but I'm not sure if there is any further info...what do the "RS" designations mean?

9200 is kinda intresting. Is there a chance they'll keep the RV250 in the new lineup at a higher clock? Then replacing the 9500pro and 9700non with the RV350, and then the 9700pro would be discontinued in favor of the R350?

No the RV280 is a cheapo chip designed for office computers. Much like the 9000.

If you want a card for office computers, just go for an integrated solution or a Radeon 7000. Unless you're doing multimedia work, even the 9000 is severe overkill. It's meant as a budget gaming card.

yep, Radeon 7000 is their part for that class of cards.

So this begs the questions. Will ATI keep their DX8 part for one more round? It sure looks like it.

Well, Boddo, IMO the 9000,9100,9200 is looking to be just as bad. :( I hope there are some clock speed surprises for me with regards to the 9200, though.

Agreed...if the 9200 is nothing more than an AGP 8X version of the 9000, then the naming would be unfortunate. If the 9200 clocks are upped a bit from the 9000, then it might be OK.

nice; Chip.de [edit] again :

ATI puts after: Radeon 9800, 9600 and M10-Chip

At the vortag of the Intel Developer forum (IDF) into San Jose first rumors seeped concerning ATIs coming diagram chip, the Radeon 9800, 9600/Pro and the Notebook variant M10 to the public.

San Jose (railways) - ATI plans a complete

Fresh UP of its current wheel on chips for April 2003. Radeon 9700 pro, 9500 and 8500 and the mobile variant Radeon 9000 Mobility blocked in Notebooks are to be replaced with Radeon 9800, 9600/Pro, 9200 and Radeon 9700 Mobility.

Within the High end range the Radeon-9800-Chip for ATI is to clarify the balance of power. Like the predecessor, the Radeon 9700 pro, is manufactured also the 9800-Modell (code name R350) during 0,15 the micrometer process. The future DirectX-9- Beschleuniger possesses thereby the same Vertex and pixel Shader units as the 9700-Pro-Modell.

Are raised however the VPU clock (Visual processing unit). It will amount to instead of 325 MHz now 375 MHz. On the appropriate boards excluding GDR i memory will be used. The focused frequency: 350 MHz (effectively 2 x 350 = 700 MHz).

Radeon 9600 pro - more than average
In the Mainstream segment there are the largest changes: Radeon 9600 and Radeon 9600 pro (both RV350) are developed in 0,13-Mikrometer-Technik, resemble however in its architecture the Radeon- 9500-Chip. The CONTROLLERS are DirectX-9- kompatibel and possess about 75 million transistors.

While with the non pro variant a chip clock is anvisiert by approximately 300 MHz, the pro accelerator with 400 MHz is to run. As video RAM GDR ii-memory is intended with both models, which runs however regarding the CAS Auslesezyklen in the slower GDR i mode. The memory interface is reduced to 128 MByte. The price for appropriate boards amounts to zirka 150 euro for the 9600er- Modell, Radeon-9600-Pro-Karten is for approximately 200 euro over the shop bar to move.

Within the lower Desktop range the Radeon-8500- Chip is produced for short time as Radeon 9200- Controller (RV280). Its memory interface, which is revalued by AGP-4x on AGP-8x, is new.

M10 - new 3D-Turbo for Notebooks
In the mobile sector the Radeon 9700 (code name M10) prescht forwards. The successor to the Radeon 9000 Mobility possesses a DirectX-9- kompatiblen diagram core and shows 8 pixel pipelines - like the appropriate Desktop variant.

CHIP on-line one means:
ATI wants to make short process with Nvidia and attacks with full broadside: Radeon 9800 comes with more basic speed and is to make that last eh GeForce-FX-5800-Chip already back-gradated from.

With the Radeon 9600 manufactured into 0,13 micrometers inclusive pro variant attacks ATI directly doubly competing GeForce FX MX models: The Canadian diagram chip specialist squints with the pure 9600-Variante on a passive-cooled diagram chip; the pro version, which clocks with approximately 400 MHz, is to secure the Pfruende with the elevated Mainstream segment against Nvidia.

the table is quite nice too. IMHO the quote about the M10 = 8Pixelpipelines is not correct. Hopefully at least part of the other is correct.

[edit] : so maybe we can expect the real Preview's next monday, cause Chip.de is "always" a few days early. ;)

There is currently no indication that ATI is making a 0.13u R-200 part at this time.

We do know that ATI is making a R-200 variant with AGP 8X. (RV-280). This is being fabbed at UMC, on their 0.15u process. The assumption is, the RV-280 is the chip powering the so-called 9200.

Of course, we really don't know for sure...

At least there is no mention of a Radeon 9500 Pro SE that is slower than a regular Radeon 9500 Pro!

Nor would there be; they'd be more likely to call it the Radeon 9500 Pro LE like they did with the 8500 model.
