Me-thinks that is interesting, personally. Of course I always suspected some shady deal on their behalf and now it is somewhat confirmed. All of the French and Russian apologists can cram it now.
 
Problem is, Aziz is a well known manipulator, and he could be telling the Americans exactly what they wanted to hear. This needs outside corraboration, e.g. the names of the people who met with Saddam, meeting minutes, see if there are any contradictions in stories when French officials are interviewed. (oh we, told Saddam X) (guy #2: Oh, we told him Y)

France & Russia failed to stop the war and this is someones way of getting back at France/Russia for failing to stop the war.

Why wouldnt they say so? Getting the war called off was their stated aim all along, so no real subterfuge there apart from lying to Saddam about the extent of their abilities/commitment. If the war by some miracle was called off they could put it down to their own efforts and carry favour, if not he was going down anyway and their misdirection would speed it up. Win/win.

You would think this should mellow your view about France/Russia rather than sour it further Sabastian ...

Since the U.S. didn't give a sh*t about the UN and went ahead anyway, how can this make any kind of sense?

I dunno about russia france had a lot of money invest in iraq and also germany did too.

Then again this could be pure american fud also it says sadam had no WMD so this sort of bad for the usa.

When Foxnews will explain why a very famous US company (linked to Dick Cheney) is buying carburant $ 0.79 in koweit and selling back immediatly to US army $ 1.49 for exemple, we will start to think they are intersted in facts and not in propangada about US in irak.

But the UN made more of a problem wrt the war didn't they? The US was supposed to be forced into a position of compliance but the US was defiant.

No, supposedly their motivations were peaceful rather then some sort of deal that they worked out with the slime ball that Saddam really was. So the motive is considerably less altruistic then it at first appeared rather it was more likely some kind of way of getting oil out of the scum ball for keeping him in power.
 
My opion is this should have been done at the last gulf if it had at the time few would have complained pitty they didn't go for the kill :/ so to speak.

I wouldn't doubt they had some similar sorts of deals in the works at that point also. IRRC there was allot of "allied" support that was against the idea of removing Saddam then as well. Saddams ties at the UN with certain "allies" have kept him in power for a long time.

Is Mr. Cheney financially benefiting at all from the deal? If not then the point is moot.

Yes I too think Germany somehow is involved in the scam as well.
 
Seriously there is no legal mechanism by which France and Russia couldve stopped the war so impossible for them to cut a deal with Iraq and stop the americans and brits from going forward as they relied on 1441. This was settled way before the war started...

Fact is France and Russia didnt do squat and couldnt even they had wanted to.

Gotta love foxnews for giving this nutcase any credence.
