Ram question

Built a new computer recently and everything went well except for the ram. I got a 1gig stick and it only shows up as 512 in the bios and windows. Motherboard is an Abit AN8 Ultra, memory is OCZ. Tried two different slots with same results. Thought I'd rma it unless anyone here has an idea?

Is it a registered DIMM by any chance? Might be weirdness because you really need two sticks for Socket 939 systems, too.

Registered DIMMs are usually the culprit though, when used in systems that don't support them.

I'm not sure if this is the same problem, but someone else had a similar issue and it turns out the memory was mismarked:

Thanks for the replies. It isn't a registered dimm. It is this one. Well, it is supposed to be anyway. Used cpuz and it identifies the module as the 512MB version, so I guess it did get mislabed.

Can you tell if its a single sided or dubble sided dimm?
