Rainbow Six: Vegas demo on live

Suprised this hasn't been posted up already...

Apparently it's not out in the US though in a strange turn of events.

Mine's been incredibly slow downloading so no playing it tonight for me alas. For those who can't access it Xboxyde has a video up http://xboxyde.com/news_3732_en.html

I haven't checked, but supposedly it is out in the US as well. MS has been really inconsistant with where they have been placing the new content.

okay, either way it'd just mean creating a new profile with a silver account in UK/Japan so I guess it's relatively unimportant!

WOW... download this demo now!

Best XBL demo I have played in a while and one of the best Xbox 360 games I have played since Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. I cannot find the words to describe how awesome this game is! Just know that if you enjoyed past Rainbow Six games (not the lockdown one) you should undoubtedly enjoy Rainbow Six: Vegas.

Demo tech issues

I had a lot of fun playing it but... right now, it doesn't really look better than GRAW. I expected more from the first UE3 game. Still, I've been told the demo is quite old (late august/early september).
Here are the tech issues (HD) according to me :
Aliasing : I usually do not complain but it feels there is absolutely no AA
Framerate : had they implemented Epic's multi thread rendering tool on this demo
Textures : there is a line where the "proximity" high def textures appear, exactly as in CoD2
Colors : there are lines between different shades
Physics : small paint cans do not move, while drums and big boxes can ! Cars do not seem to explode (at list with 1 frag grenade)
Does anyone have more info about how old the demo is ? It feels like a lot of effects are off...

I think it not being is USA has to do with it being an OXM demo. They probably want some exclusive time.

Does the demo hitch a lot for others? Not reallt framerate just quick stop-start.

Well, the game also slowdowns when entering a new area, it's probably just a download.
What I meant is that the framerate always seems kinda low, eventhough i'm unable to assess the number of fps (it does not harm the gameplay). I didn't notice huge v synch issue, though, maybe it's on, resulting in low fps.
But the gameplay is great, and I'll buy this game. I just hope Ubi will release a well optimized version. I trust Ubi, they're French (Ooops, I'm being jingoistic).

The framerate isn't wonderful, but right now I'm speculating (hope!) that this is the whole threaded renderer thing, because the level is the same as the E3 video. No obvious visual improvements either. Although some of the recent videos didn't look much better (eg, the multiplayer video)

The controls are (for the most part) very good, although it can be confusing switching between cover and aiming out of cover; as there is an angle, that if you cross, you switch between the two. It's hard to explain, and quite counter-intuitive. You are holding the buttons/direction you think should go into aiming mode, but it doesn't, unless you aim just a smidgen out. Ideally they should have just made the reticle change, to indicate you will hit what you are cowering behind.

Visually, very nice. The combat is suitably powerful.

Overall a solid showing, and I give it :smile2::smile2::smile2::unsure:

I like it, think it plays very well and it's a fun game.
Having literally just stepped out of Splinter Cell:DA it's strange not having a mini-map and hostile locations readily available, but more challenging because of it.

My only criticism would be with the night-vision goggles, which are the good part of useless alongside thermal vision. That and checkpoints should probably be a little closer together.

Altogether though, I like it. Already having GR:AW and SC:DA I was prepared to miss this, think I might have to pick it up now though.

You know, real cars do not explode, even when hit by a grenade.

It's their E3 playable demo.

It's their E3 playable demo.

I think E3 demo was set in a finished casino with coins machines that could explode, as well as a car.
This one was released in august and september, I think (it was shown in France during an event on september the 28th).
Well, regarding the car explosion issue, I like them to explode with awesome fire effects. It's a video game ;-)

Ok, I've just finished the demo on the highest difficulty setting (not that difficult, actually, it's my first R6). Now My new objective is : total a car. Or a van as a matter of fact !
