I think this is Dave's way of saying, "It's not 24 pipelines, it's 32! And it's got a programmable primitive processor! Plus, space monkeys!"

Or maybe he's just saying that it's 16 pipes, 8 VS, and around 600Mhz on core.

Even after HKEPC's "First Look" was posted in this thread, Dave clearly labelled the 32/24pp part as "silly". You boys are simply not paying attention.

Sorry digi, I didnt let them run longer with that theory. :|

Eh, been watching this thread forever. I'll im getting is the r520 in any form is no faster than a 7800gtx by a worthy amount, and considering the ATI pricing, it wont be worth it. ATI fails. Wonder if nVidia will hammer them on the r580 front as well.

I respect Dave as much as the next guy, but I don't take his word as fact just because it comes from him. ;)

I need *evidence* and such, be it from Dave or anyone else. So, right now I'm going with the site(s) that have brought us the card images and have benchmarked the thing.

I know B3D will post it's own review/preview in short order, and I'll consider it definitive as I do the rest of theirs/ours/his; but at the same time, if VR-Zone says 24 pipes - and they've handled a card - well, why would they just pull that out of their ass if they know better?

Hmmm, stupid question, but how would they know it has 24 pipes just by having the card?

They wouldn't know because they've handled the card, they'd know because of HKEPC's access to the card manufacturers. Didn't mean to imply that their 'hands-on' the card gave them the knowledge, but I did want to imply a connection in terms of access to information.

Ιf you consider vrzone more "reliable" than B3D, then you're definitely worth whatever comes at you after the launch.

As to your last question the answer is simple: sensationalism and only temporary higher site hits.

I can see a bunch of pictures (which can have leaked through by the way) at HKEPC and a claimed 8600 for a supposed 6 quad@650MHz R520, for which that score is right out pathetic. If you don't have in the very least some common sense to see that there's something fishy about the above then I don't know what else to say.

If there's 'sensationalism,' it's in your reply to me.

Nowhere did I say that I 'trust' VRZone more than B3D. What I'm saying is at the present moment, besides Dave saying I shouldn't, I have no reason to toss their numbers out. As far as 'credibility' I clearly stated I put Dave's reviews head and shoulders above the rest.

And 'worth whatever comes at me'? What the hell does that even mean? Does that mean if it's there's a 24-pipe XT version, that you'll also be worth 'whatever comes at you'?

Ailuros you have a *serious* attitude problem.

I posted - originally - simply a link to a preview on HKEPC. Since then I've been defending myself and the act of even having posted that against individuals who act liek I've insulted their religion by even linking to something that would imply 'there might be a 24 or 32 pipe version...'

I mean - calm down. I don't care. If there's *only* 16-pipe versions, believe me I'm a-ok with that. But if there's 24-pipe versions or more I swear it's like you'll tear your own eyes out.

Just calm down, and wait for actual card reviews before you talk about R520 as if it's a history lesson.

I swear the level of zealotry is frightening.

I wouldn't say Ail's reply is anything related to zealotry, since there was none there. He has, of course, hit the nail though.

As for "having a card", the only manufacturer that is likely to have them would be PC Partner - PC Partner wouldn't necessarily recieve any drivers, nor would the know the config of the chip, they just need the board schematics. Lets see a screenshot after the PC post screen!

Riiiight, because I said I don't like it here, eh? ;)

And no, Dave has been wrong before. Man - it's like a cult of personality going on here or something!

He has made this site great - his reviews are great - these forums are great - he is a great man. But if he ran for president, I'd want to know his platform - understand what I'm saying? If he comes out right now and says:

"I can't tell you explicitly, but there is information contained in the NDA I signed that would readily lead you to the conclusion that VR-Zone is full of shit,"

Well, I would take that and mull it over. But as it stands now I only have threats of pans to go with.

Well Dave I'll ask you to refer to my post before this one then - you can end my 'rabble-rousing' right now if you like by repeating the text in quotes.

And the 'zealotry' is in people putting words in my mouth and then attacking those words they placed in my mouth rather than what was actually stated.

xb, you appear to be coming into this particular story particularly late; do a search, heck even read a little more of this thread. We're just retreading old ground
