I'm not sure about this, but the number of people who has Spanish as it's mother language is over four hundred million people, and it's increasing in a very fast rate. Another problem we have in Spain is that the level of English isn't great here, so game companies need to translate their games to sell them.

Except for Brits, when companies decide to do European releases simultaneously and we end up waiting months for no reason...

The Revolutionary War? The War of 1812 perhaps?

Us Americans are ornery mofos who tend to hold a grudge.

The level of English might not be good for the same reason that few Britons can be bothered to learn a second languages: they don't actually need it. It's always nice to be bilingual, but things are already a bit tricky in Spain with many areas already having two official languages. Things are slowly changing, but it still will be some time until English earns the status it has in other European countries.

That's a disgrace, but I'm afraid translation is far from being the main problem. That situation has a lot more to do with the publishers' release policy than anything else. The same happens with films: some of them are released on the same day worldwide, while others have different US and European release dates.

Mmm you really sound frustrated.... why should we embrace english??
English is btw one of the first foreign languages we learn in school. Commercials(tv/radio/magazines), are using more and more english. Also almost every trend from the states we just follow like a puppy dog. So for me and a lot of others that is more then enough English already besides French and Spanish are very romantic languages it would be a shame if they went aldo Esperanto would be a nice replacement...*

*It would be nice if everybody could speak English and Esperanto http://www.tejo.org/info/pri_esperanto.php?lingvo=en

You say we get console games six months after the rest of the world well I live in Europe (Holland) too but mostly the console games are released pretty soon after US or Japanese releases...... certainly not 6 months.

The reason you state for a delay of console games is BS cause well at least in Holland we always have the UK version so no translation is done at all!!!
Your really sound like a Glano (look it up if you like to know what it means)

You've mugged up the quoting, and are now implying that I think we should all speak english, and not other languages - when I was the one sticking up for them! I've corrected it in this re-post.

Sure. But I suspect the reason they don't release simultaneously is that they want to do simultaneous Europe-wide releases and localisation holds the whole continent up even when some countries just get the US version anyway.
Frankly, these days I'm not even sure that's that relevant, though - I think most big companies have decided that Europe's so used to being screwed over (hello, PSP?) that it doesn't matter when they launch here and it's easier to delay it so they don't have to think about so many things at once, conveniently ignoring the fact that Europe buys almost as many games as the US. MS is demonstrating with the 360 that if companies actually bother they can do things simultaneously or near-simultaneously world-wide, but most just... don't.

Had I the almighty mod powers to do so, this thread would have been locked, binned and destroyed ages ago! What on Earth gets into you people sometimes is totally beyond me.

Sugar and/or caffeine, probably, switching to fermented hops as the day wears on. If I had to guess.

So, yeah, General Discussion is thataway ^^^.

I am not sure if somebody is still interested.

MS have released a new DX SDK and you will find no new Shaderprofile in this release. AFAIK there are no plans to add one in the near future.

Because of this 3.0a can only stand for a change inside the engine. It sounds like a workaround for a problem that prevent that the default 3.0 path runs with a R520 chip.

And I hope a mod will close this thread really a.s.a.p

That's interesting because that is not the information I have. I will see what I can explain about 3a a bit later on

Makes sense. Crytek recently released a patch for farcry which has something fixed or changed to make the ps3.0 path work with r520.

    I'm wonder what it is
