I guess I am confused why people would have thought the NDA would be up sooner then 9 AM EST as that lately seems to have been the time when the other NDAs expire. But things change... :) And yea Rage3d will probably get slammed as every ATI fan boy will be heading there today.... wheeeeee :)

And dam Rys P0rn collection > Mine.... /me fires up modem to correct that blance :)

I don't undestand why people complain and refer to the 6xxx line as "year old technology"... SM3.0 is still the latest and greatest, and it will continue to be that way until Vista arrives. So, apart from efficiency improvements (which is kinda moot when talking about low/mid market segments anyway imo), I can't see a reason why 6xxx cards can't be still produced and sold.

I don't know that I entirely agree with that, tho I take your point. In any feature's life-cycle it gets to the point where it isn't just included in the low-end ASIC's, but in fact is actually useable from a performance pov. And we tend to put a good deal of value in that fact, because once it is available top-to-bottom it becomes that much more attractive for developers to use and and be sure it works.

Not sure if that's happened here yet on this particular release. . .

But remember, we are a very small minority that actually expects features to be usuable..... If we have learned anything in the last 3 years it's that the majority of end users haven't any idea just what all those added features do....and only care that the "have them". So they are important in that context.....

Remember the 5200 being DX9 capable???????.........;)

When I say year old. I speak for product lifetime. Rather than the architecture itself. I dont think of Nvidias SM 3.0 implementation on the Geforce 6/7 series as a year old. I see the product itself as a year old. I dont myself see Nvidia relying on a year old product to compete with a current gen product. Also a top to bottom feature list from Geforce 7 series would IMO look good for Nvidia since cards like the Geforce 6 have been around for over a year.

There are other reasons adopting a newer tech could be better which arent just related to the core itself. Cheaper PCBS, Cheaper coolers from the benefits of a lower process, ((Look at the 6800GT cooler compared to say a 6600GT)) removal of the AGP to PCIE bridge on the 6800 PCIE cards((Non NV41)) and of course it probably wouldnt hurt for Nvidia to have a native PCIE solution with comparable performance to a 6800GT.

    Heh! I wish :)

I wouldn't exactly call the Gefoce 7 7800GT a Mid-Range card. Both the Geforce 7800GTX and GT models are High-End in my book.

The new Mid-Range card will surely be the Geforce 7600.

I know what you're saying Chris, but bear in mind that, apart from some changes (nV could implement TxAA for older cards, if they wanted, trust me) that don't make much sense for those mid to low price segments, nV has no reason whatsoever to invest on making its current chips better really. History has shown that it will be a while before we see native PCI-e solutions actually having an advantage over bridged ones too, so creating new refined chips (which cost money) doesn't look so good, from a financial POV. Of course, they could always pull an ATI and rename their SKUs to 7xxx from 6xxx in order to have a complete 7xxx line :p

edit: Ok, did I just defend nVidia where ChrisRay was having problems with its decisions? Where is the world coming to?

G'morning all! Did I miss any reviewage? ;)

ATi still has 1 hour & 34 minutes according to their countdown on my PC, so it should work out pretty sweet for me.

BTW-Kombatant, what in the hell are you doing defending Chris R?!?!

Can someone release the reviews now please I'm bored of waiting.

If Ati complain you released the review too early counter by saying that's to compensate for them releasing the card 4 months late ...

Did anyone notice the CrossFire XT there? Slightly slower than a normal XT and £10 cheaper?
