That's what I'm talking about, I think both IHV's are going to be pushing the envelope on their high-end cards and both are willing to sell 'em for a loss to get the top-title. (Besides, with the volume of high-end cards they sell compared to mid & low-end the high-end cards seem like the best place to take a loss on)

It's a great time to be a gaming enthusiast!

since it was already stated numerous times that ATi and Nvidia count their transistor differentlly...

this is simplifying things, but is there any chance someone might turn NV 210 mil into ATi figueres or vice versa?....at least rough approximation?

If someone could I'm sure they would, but only nVidia & ATi could do something like that and my thinking is that if nVidia changed the way they count transistors they specifically did so just to prevent exactly the kind of comparison you're looking for. :(

I would assume that the real impact on margins would be the numbers of chips per wafer (assuming similar yields). In light of that do you remember this...

Actually, screw that. It WAS artificial probably, but not for cooling reasons. And it hardly matters anymore.
Plus, for everyone who's been noticing what I had originally said for the NV40 was wrong, I'm hoping certain things will come to light soon enough, although I'm becoming rather unsure about if and when that'll happen now I must admit...

    Cebit next week.

    1) So do you think ATI and Nvidia will be there?
    2) If so will they demo the R420 and NV40(NV45?)
Not gonna ask who do you think will come out tops since it's gonna cause a rawkes again.
    3) Last, is anyone going to Cebit?

So now after all these threads we still really dont know anything ;) but speculating is fun. I hope there will be new filteringstechniques like a mix of lod bias, fsaa and AF, called "picture clear" ;)

Would the fog clear next week in Hannover ?

Probably a little, but I suspect things might end up getting foggy again a little while after.

Hmmm, seems like they raised the price in the past hour. You can still see the offer listed at http://www.geizhals.at/deutschland/a48291.html , but, as you wrote, it's now back at 259 Euros again.

Edit: As amazon.de doesn't seem to sell these cards anymore (only through third parties), I'd guess that they sold the last cards of their inventory in the past hour. I guess it was a sellout special.
