    Let us not forget

Let us not forget that all that R&D to create these new chips are a waisting asset. It has a shelf life that is partially out of the control of the vendors. Longhorn with it's new requirements will likely force a new generation. IF NVidia gets their act together and the NV40 is a superior product, it will have a market share impact on ATI. If ATI was ready to launch today, it would represent a 2 to 3 month advantage (more?) in gaining market share and exclusive media coverage (which is priceless).

So, while you don't want to hit your channel with a new product that would force writedowns, you also NEED to start selling your product as soon as possible to get maximum returns.

I would wager that the reason we haven't seen the new ATI product is either:
    A) it's really not ready yet
    B) it is ready but they aren't getting getting good enough yield yet, or they want more chips stock piled, for an effective launch while at the same time, they are giving their distribution chain time to lower inventory.
    C) while the amazing new high end chip is fun to talk about, they are getting their mid and entry market chips ready more aggressively (which is where the cash is) and are using the lully prior to the launch to get as many OEM partners lined up as they can while NVidia can't respond.

MuFu, you could have at least tried. My sources gave me this. Though I don't think they are entirely trustworthy. Seems rather familiar to me for some reason.

Note the special bridge chip which i think is being used to put multiple PCI Express Chip on an AGP card :D

    Ah Ha !

Clearly one can see the advantages with this card. This design obviously employs a much more advanced ruler/straight edge device.

    Hehe, sorry.

Think we'll see an RV4x0 launch at the same time? RV380 has obviously been ready for ages (just like RV250 and RV350 were) - I wonder if they're waiting on a midrange part to take on NV41, since IIRC, "RV410" was originally slated for Q2/2H.

What was the original chip demonstrated by ATI with DDR-2 in fall 2002 ?
