I realize that, and I know the general idea would not work with any other kind of animal. But computers are supposed to be very logical and efficient, so I always have the question of why bothering with humans by creating an entirely different world so they could take care of their "feeble, little" problems.

Umm...I thought that they were draining the energy through the skin, thanks to the liquid inside the "thing"(My vocabulary isn´t the greatest, sorry) where people were stored.

Oh, and about the sentient thing...wouldn´t they be much more efficient if they weren´t like that? Agent Smith was "buggy", and that interfered in his performance.

I forgot about that, to tell the truth, but still, weren´t humans so technologically advanced as to have complete DNA records stored somewhere? Computers could have taken a simpler animal to use to obtain their energy...and animals and plants would not have been wiped out from the surface immediately...unless they found out about some sort of bomb or device powerfull enough to completely char the sky at once.:)

Also, is the effect of charring the sky a drastic drop in temperature? Because they said they lived close to the core of the Earth, remember. Also, why has the core dropped in temperature?

Oh, and I know that Agent Smith hated the filthy humans, he. Did he wanted to be terminated then? Becasue he is software written for a specific function. And the reason behind making them sentient is still not too clear for me.

Hey! I´m not ripping it apart, in fact I liked it. I just found some plot holes that I considered serious that kept me bugging after I saw it.

I stand corrected. I complete forgot about that.

Oh, and hupfinsgack, that´s Platon take on the world. It was later countered by Aristoteles and his theories.:)

The whole reason the computers revolted was BECAUSE they became sentient.

He's an AI, the computers wouldn't deny sentience to one of their own kind. Also sentience allows the AI to adapt much more easily to new situations and gives it more creativity, which is pretty much required to fight against uber-resourceful humans.

Well, it wasn't sure since a lot of Socrates work is only preserved in Platon's scriptures. That's why I left the option. :) .

BTW, did anyone notice that NEO is the anagram of ONE?

Since this thread has gone all OT, maybe someone can explain WHY neo is the ONE? Maybe I just missed that one, but what makes neo so special compared to the other people? Why him?

1- The machines specificaly needed the human brain nerve impulse to catalyse a new form of fusion, and not as a source of energy. ( Morpheus said this, and after showed the battery, but you see human brains are not like a battery  ) Maybe, also they wanted to study humans, after all, humans created them for their amusement and strangely opressed the machines ( see Matrix Renaissence - part 1 ). They were kinda curious ( notice what the agent smith says about the mammals and humans).

2- The machines evoluted someway, I got to see the other animatrix episodes to know

3-Maybe because human are not perfect, so the plugs and cheating do not fit everyone perfectly. They needed to modify the electrical signs from the nerves. For the point of how they could research the matrix, besides having the intuiton, CaptainHowdy is right.

4- I don't know. It's something they used so that they could explore in the sequels. The machines outside the matrix are also couscious like the humans, so...
