I played and beat it on the 360 last night. Beat it on the PC a week or so ago. It runs a good bit jerky sometimes. Lots of aliasing, which strangely seems to be the norm for 360. No AF either AFAICT

You can force any res you want, as far as I know. I forced 1920x1200, same was as in D3 and Q4.

Yeah, and aspect ratio changes work, you just strangely have to change something else along with the aspect ratio setting to get the "apply" button functional if you are doing it from the ingame menu. And all those shots look like they are using the right aspect ratio to me, the Doom 3 engine just has a rather fisheye way of achieving widescreen and sometimes stuff near the edges winds up looking rather distorted because of that.

It works, like I said, just toggle another option along with the aspect ratio option and watch the aspect ratio change when you hit "apply."

It's been like that forever and ever. And the NV setting is definitely a deficiency in some games. The worst I've ever seen is KOTOR on my 6800 Go, where it royally messes up the mip mapping of the ground textures. You can see this weird sparkling where filtering isn't so hot at the mip level chane points. Stumped me for a while, and was annoying cuz my M9600 had never done anything like that.

Of course, when you up the setting, the NV card slows down.

It seems like a cool game, I'm just not floored by the demo. To me it seems way to similar to Doom 3, which isn't all that suprising. Not only that but it reminds me a lot of Turok and some of Ninja Gaiden. Again, don't get me wrong, but I'm not exactly thrilled beyond words with this demo. The biggest problem I have is the stupid ai that I've encountered thus far with it not really making any attempt to use team tactics or even take cover kind of makes me wonder if the ai in this game is geared to victory by volume.:???:

The hunters (aliens with rifles) do take cover. Perhaps you're killing them off too quickly?

You might laugh, but I'd like it exactly that way. I hope this game will partly be what Doom3 wasn't - a worthy successor to Doom1/2 with loads of cool but brainless monsters.

My first playthrough, I never noticed them taking cover: just stand still in the open and shoot. My second run, they'd take cover, dodge out to shoot, them go back to cover. Unless my memories playing tricks on me, I even recall seeing one leaning out to shoot.

I suspect the auto difficulty adjustment dumbs down the ai more then it should. I got myself killed and took more damage the first time so it would've lowered the difficulty more then during the second run.

I really would not call that AI per say as most shooters have the enemy doing something to evade your shots. When I think of AI I am thing of FEAR Clones Solid., CS-Soruce Bots, UT Bots where they will form up into "fire teams", try to flank you, take different paths to get to you, flush you out, run away when hurt, try to pin you down and move, ect. And am not saying what you saw does not count, but I guess that is what I would call just basic stuff now days...

Ive read many people on other forums beating it in about 4 hours, or less.

Also, they started on this in 2001, which is about average for a game. Its not like they've been working on it since 96'.

Wow, if it's true that's pretty short for a full price game and people are going to feel very ripped off.

I know people will say "it's the quality that counts", but if you go to a resturant, order (and pay for) a full meal, you are still going to leave hungry if you only get a mouthful - even if it's the best food in the world.

Hard to tell if you're using sarcasm, but actually Prey has been in the works since about 96.

He is using logic, Prey was orignaly in development starting around '96 and canned in '98. The Prey coming out soon was built of those ideas but production was started by a different developer in 2001.

Interesting how much faster the X1900 is than the X1800, being a D3 engined game :???:
