Yes RADAR thats all nice and true but there is one difference.

JDOOM DOES EITHER INTERPOLATION OR PREDICTIVE INTERPOLATION WHERE AS DOOM3 WILL BE DOING NONE. I guess they feel it would use up too much cpu which is need to do the physics and AI.

Intepolation will add a 16.7 ms delay which I said earlier when I said the EFFECTIVE fps would be 60 hz. Predictive interpolation can cause some jitter in animation an so forth ( shouldn't be a real problem ). And like I said anything between 61-119 fps will actually produce worse effective frame then capping the fps at 60 also all the state changes will chew up cpu which could be better used on the physics. If we are lucky ID might allow the server side to alter the number of phsyic calculations per second setting but anyway we would need good cpus to benefit from that.

I'll be there in a couple of weeks. Aiming for May 3 right now.
Well, my demos that I do at home will go up on my personal website as usual.

    You mean like this:

OK, but I wouldn't hold it against you if the home-coding slows down a lot.
It's easy to think that after N hours of programming at work, it's just as fun to keep doing it at home as when studying. But it's easy to get tired, and while you still think it's fun in theory, the home projects just don't get done.

So I think a good advice is to make sure you have something completely different stuff to do also.

About the worms: I haven't played much of it, but don't they pop each other off at a rather high frequency, and with a lot of evil creativity?

Interest thing pop into my mind... maybe what what was given to reviewers was the 6800 ( non ultra ) version and saving the 6800 Ultra to after ATI comes out with there R420.

Any idea when Direct X 9.0c is released so that PS 3.0 in FarCry will be enable and we can really see it what it does.

Yes, I'm sure it will slow down a lot. Doesn't mean I'll quit entirely though.

You might not have any choice, depending on what you're doing at ATi and how your contract is.

I just hope it all works out right for you Humus. You're good people and it's great to see good things happening for you. 8)

Well, they can't demand me to stop writing demos on my own time using my own computer. Nor do I see a reason why they would wish to.

Some companies claim that if you do work-related things in your own time, then they own it, and have it written into their contracts. The idea is that if you are working on your own time, but using knowledge or ideas you got while working, it belongs to them.

It came up a couple of years ago in some court case where a guy had invented something in his spare time that was in his field of expertise, and the company he was working for at the time claimed they owned the patent because they owned all the stuff in his head while he was working for them, even if it wasn't on "work time".

Certainly when I was working in the telecoms field and wanted to do a little outside work for fun, I had to clear it with the company because I was getting a nominal payment to do it.

Basically just check the contract and clear it with your boss. For instance, ATI might have a problem with you doing SM3 demos for Nvidia hardware in your spare time.

Basically a conflict of interest statement is usually signed which says no outside stuff that is not in the direct interest of the company or any activity must be approved.

    Really is standard stuff.

I have it in my contract too. Any free time work I do that can be related to what my employers field, belongs to them. But in practice they aren't so picky about it unless I'd become a competitor.

I guess that ATI will think your home demos is OK, simply because they do cool stuff on ATI hardware. But as BZB says, ATI might object if you use features outside ATIs feature set, that put ATI in a bad light.

Just check with your boss to make sure.

(I still think you should folow the link I gave above. :) I just came back from my salsa class.)

Lol, no salsa for me :p
Well, I'm not going to write stuff in direct competition with my employer. I think that's pretty obvious. Up until now I've never written a single demo either that didn't run on ATI hardware, so I don't see that's going to change.
