    How does it affect subscriptions or the read/unread status of a thread? I.e. will you know the thread has been updated just as if the posts had not been merged?

    The mod is configurable. It can be set to "Bump Thread" by using "Update the timestamp of a doublepost".

    Is this much of a problem around here?

    I guess the point would be if someone comes to a thread that is very busy or they haven't seen in awhile, and they are reading/replying to 10 or so posts, this would make all their responses as one post, keeping any quoting sorted correctly? Kind of auto multi-quote?

    I think I might be a little worried about the next generation, when a poster hits quote on the mega-post. They'd be left with significant editing to get just the bit they want, or let context get all higgeldy-piggeldy.

    I don't see the point, with the lack of huge sigs it doesn't save that much room.
