Phenom and it's performance with interpreters

As the title suggests. Let's take a look outside of gaming.
I use interpreted languages quite a bit (Ruby, Python, Java, etc...), what is the performance of Phenom and Penryn in a multi-threaded application running under an interpreter?

This is what will determine where my money will go.
AMD apparently have better branching under Phenom.

Better branching than what? You don't think games make use of branching or are that multi-threaded?

Let me ask this another way: You don't think game performance is an indication of non-gaming performance?
