Wasn't that 60GB figure, the installed size of the game? A 60GB install could easily be compressed onto a 50GB BD-ROM one would think, and since I have a BD drive already, I'd buy that version without hesitation.

Heck, DVDs are very cheap, aren't needed once installed and PC gamers have put up with 3/4+ CD installs in the past, so surely a 4-6 DVD version isn't such a wild idea? Charge a $10 premium and give it a nice case and I doubt anyone would complain. Its too big a chance of making increased revenue to turn down imo.

Is it possible you could compress the PC one more as you don't need to stream from the DVD when playing on PC, but can use the HDD instead? Thus DVD latency wouldn't be an issue.

Thinking about it, AC works perfectly under DX9 on my system, its only when you play via DX10 that it slows down considerably. I do think DX10 looks nicer though, its hard to put my finger on the differences but there is definatly something better which makes the performance drop worth it.

Yeah Rage is a definate purchase for me even though I'm a little underwhelmed by the recent video. Its not that it looks bad, its just not revolutionary which I was expecting for some reason. Gameplay looks great though.

It will certainly be interesting if the PC does get a downgraded MT compared to the PS3 though. A little unfair actually since there are plenty of other things that could have been upgraded on the PC to compensate and yet Id haven't done so because they were adament all versions should be identical! I mean, sure the PS3 has a Blu Ray and its only fair to take advantage of that strength. But PC's have 5 times the GPU power so why not take advantage of that too? Maybe they will give us some extra options yet. Here's hoping.

Because the console version has to be streamed, it can't be too heavily compressed. With the PC version, you could compress it to maximum for storage as it is designed to be unpacked from the media and played from the hard drive. The PC version doesn't need to have real-time streaming/unpacking from the optical drive.

Not so much special as simply a different compression method that is slower to decompress and thus unrealistic for realtime use, but feasible for an install.

BTW that terabyte of gaming goodness will be easier to fill with games like this :)

And who knows, maybe someday it'll actually become a proper "Terabyte" too

Thanks for the link to those screenshots. I think it looks great! The vid didnt do it justice.

Though I must say the rocks on the right hand side of the second image look a bit weird.

Over at Doom3World someone posted a link to some new shots. Not all are new but they are in 1080p with no watermark.

There's some surfaces with low res textures and the shadowing is a bit disappointing but hopefully high end PCs will be able to ramp it up a notch.

I just hope the car combat is more Interstate 76, and less like just about any other car combat game ever made on PC.

I look forward to the long views of terrain. I am serious I would always enjoy getting up in the mountain tops in oblivion with the view modified to go farther and gaze out across the landscape ...

Well I wasn't expecting this... Shot 12 is the worst offender, in my opinion. Lots of ugly low res textures and low poly looking mountains... I hope we'll be able to turn it up further.

Yeah they could definitely benefit from a good LOD system. The problem then is everything starts looking the same.

It's amazing, I said this game looks like ass from the start and I got slated for it, now everyone is seeing it for what it really is
