PC games and screen ratio

    Is it that much more difficult to do? I thought there was an actual D3D function for doing the resolution query and FOV calculation.

    I guess the only games I've had the issue with are KotOR and SC: DA, both console ports. But even Halo got it right (except for not adjusting FOV).

    I don't believe there's any sort of "standard" FOV calculation, but I know it's a pretty simple D3D query to obtain valid / available resolutions.

    Ah, if only resolutions were the only thing you had to enumerate...

    does anyone know why pc monitors are 16:10 not 16:9???

    So you can fullscreen two 8:10 documents side by side.

    I doubt there's any reason why 16:10 was chosen over 16:9 that any PC users should care about. But it is a bit nice since, as Kyle noted, more height is better for reading documents.

    Wasn't 16:9 some bastardised creation of a bunch of film makers? I remember reading that somewhere.
