That's exactly what I have decided to do, same for Fallout New Vegas.

I'll be waiting it out as well, first time in a long time I've done that for a Bioware RPG (aside from dlc which I almost never purchase).

Do you guys think maybe it's better to wait for a complete DA2+dlc+fixed dx11 support edition later in the year, and just go with Two Worlds 2 in the meantime? It's metacritic rating is lower, but user ratings seem to be higher.

TW2 is a different kind of game, and I enjoyed the heck out of it. And for what it's worth, it is a much prettier game than DA2, or any other RPG for that matter. A new patch just came out fixing some quest issues I ran into (nothing major) and improved some things with the DX10 renderer. Very nice

I saw that too. Unfortunately I had read all the way up to that point. Only lost about minutes of my life.

    From the linked review:
I don't know what to say. The guy can't even beat the key bosses on Normal (or at least didn't bother) and he wants to lecture me about party micromanagement? BTW, the correct way to micromanage at that level would be to select the 'Passive' behaviour in Tactics.

    And then this:
Wow. Well, I think that says a lot more about you than it says about the game if you truly felt nothing at all. It's not healthy to be so bitter.

He does make some valid points to be fair (e.g. XP system does seem broken even if in practice it kinda evens out, awful animations especially for the darkspawn, music too loud by default, excess gang attacks at night, map reuse, etc.) but I've got to severely disagree with the vast majority of it (before I even consider the graphics part which is just hilarious as mentioned above).

I'm waiting for Ultimate Edition + mods. Looks like it needs more than just a "pretty up." To be honest, Skyrim will probably be awesome and I'll likely forget that DA2 even came out this year.

Well to be fair, all other gaming will cease to exist once Skyrim releases :) Other guys here recomender Witcher 2 which I'll get but that's in May. I'm considering Two Worlds 2 right now since it's already out. DA2 may very well fall to next year for me as well, especially if I get caught up in Witcher 2 which looks mighty pretty.

I kinda prefer the story in DA2 so far, as you say, a little bit more original. I also prefer the new combat system, a little bit more action. I would say 90% atm.

My opinion of DA2's main story... Act 1: Decent. Act 2: Awesome. Act 3: Subpar. Nearly everything after the 'Red Light in the Sky' (TM) moment (which was a great twist) felt rushed.

I enjoyed the story. Already half-way through second play just to see what things can change, in particular, not helping
    Anders
. I already did try changing
sides for the ending. When you pick Templars, it actually seemed like you were doing more good than harm. The revelation regarding Orsino knowledge of Quentin's Blood Magic/involvement with the murders was spelled out (instead of relying on the letter you find earlier) there, but not in the Mage-side ending
    .

Carver is such a twat. I thought there'd be more to him considering what happened later in the story, but oh well. He's just a whiny bitch. "wah wah wah something something something inferiority complex"

    Bethany was more interesting, but
she died when I took her with me to the ancient Thaig
    . :(

I didn't recruit Fenris on second run. Wonder if he shows up anymore.

I also wonder if there's something more to
    Mr. Enchantment's abilities
    .

To be honest I always thought that DA was handled by the "B team"... Never played the game itself but the art design and execution quality were both seriously lacking, it just doesn't have any component that'd look good enough and the renderer doesn't help either. And it's not like they've exhausted resources, there's evidently a lot of polygons and textures, they just ain't pretty enough.

And you can't even blame the budgets - as far as I know the first game sold quite well for a fantasy RPG. So it's kinda puzzling to me why it couldn't look better.

If you're looking forward to Skyrim, Nehrim is a must play...

I've only played a bit of DA:O, but it's a lot better looking than some of the stuff I'm seeing out of DA2...
