I'm beginning to not care anymore. It's so console-ized now. There's no talk about the PC version, it's all console hype, console limitation specific in design. Crytek needs to quite leaving us in the dark. It makes me want to cry:cry: I think it's going to be FEAR 2 all over again. Perhaps I'm being too pessimistic, but I think Cevat Yerli, despite wanting to always push the PC platform as he says, will be swayed by consoles, with Crytek becoming another Infinity Ward. There is hope though, as we saw how well Bad Company 2 did on the PC, maybe we'll have a repeat of the PC dominance presented in that release.

Pretty certain they're purposely leaving out PC or "next gen" content. You can see Prophet at the end of the previous video and he definitely doesn't lack any detail. There will surely be some sort of extreme setting on the PC version that will make any system beg for mercy.

I think so too. They have to enjoy their perch at the top of the IQ mountain and won't want to give that up. If they can keep that and add the artistic flair, story and gameplay that the original lacked it could be special.

I have a completely different experience with Crysis than you had. Although the story could have been better, it was good enough to drive the game. The artistic flair was great in my opinion. And the gameplay ranks with the best FPSes in my opinion. It is one of my favorite FPSes of all time.

Oh I haven't played it yet myself. Just parroting what I heard from other people about the game. It's very possible that when I get around to it I'll share your opinion.

Crytek plans on releasing a free version of their upcoming CryENGINE 3, similar to the free version of the Unreal engine Epic offers as the Unreal Development Kit. Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli tells them, "we do want to make a standalone free platform that people can run independent of CryEngine that will also be up to speed with the latest engine."

Damn impressive DOF. Pretty much spot on camera lens simulation. I hope it is easy to import into Crysis 2/CE3.

IIRC, Yerli said that C2 isn't like CoD and Halo, that they want do be unique. EA PR and Crytek should work more closely.

    WTF?

Crysis already leapfrogs Halo in gameplay and immersion value by it's robust layout and unique features. Are they now aiming for a downgrade gameplay wise?

EDIT: Sounded rough. What I am saying is that if they are aiming for Halo gameplay style it is not an improvement over what Crysis games have previously presented.

I think what EA is trying to say is that they want to attract the people who are into Halo, which is obvious, simply because there is 5+ millions of Halo fans. They want to market the game to the same demographic.

I don't think that they want to make it more linear, streamlined, more accessible and what not since they've already said:

It will certainly help if the game features good MP mods, 'cause basically that's why so many people are playing Halo I guess, besides being a game branded with the platform and the image/recognition that goes with it.

Here's a comment from GAF which I agree with. Halo and the likes are not really my thing

Ya I love Halo (camping with a mauler and all) but I'm under no illusions that it's better than Crysis. It's like comparing cheeseburger to steak.

Yeah, in Crytek's games, they are going with the realism, from graphics to gameplay mechanics. That's why they are not so "cinematic", "tight"and so on like some other games. I guess that's why so many people thinks that there is nothing beyond the visuals in their games, they don't like the "we give you objectives, go out and play" approach. People are lazy and nowadays want more hand-holding than ever before.

Mostly reading video game journalism from console centric sites is like watching the clows at the circus. The journalist being the kids....

That's why I play stuff like STALKER, BF2, BF2 mods like Forgotten Hope 2 and Project Reality. Every now and then I get out the ArmA. Really need to get ArmA II. These console games are for 20 year old kids now. It's only worsened by all the casuals out there, and the publishers trying to get their dollar too.
