Got into a server to play some and got the duty as a predator. Quite nice looking and fun. Shift key allowed me to jump onto obstacles or do leap attacks. F key for vision modes that are awesome. At first glance map can apear open space tunnel layout but with shift key I could jump onto higher grounds, pipes etc to have a good battlefield overview and attack position. Kills are awesome really brutal when you get a critical hit.

Was IMO fun and very satisfying and running at rock solid 60fps though I haven't tried forcing AA as there is no AA sldier probably due to demo only being DX9 and WIP and probably lacks other stuff.

    Some screenshots.

Remember to get a hold of all the controls for each species to get the most out of the demo. Once you pick up and get a hold of the controls the gameplay value increases a lot. Really feel it!

    Hmm, graphically nice.
    Gameplay seems pretty good.

No multiplayer server search, does some stupid auto-matching, can't seem to see latency :(
No next weapon, previous weapon options in controls?!
    Menus are very consoley.

Tried it, horrible matchmaking settings, takes an eternity to find a game, and if there's an option to create/host one i couldn't find it on sub-menu after sub-menu.

Gameplay wise was hopping for better, the alien class specially regarding the wallwalk abilities its clunky no option to free the view point from the wall angle its constantly wobbling and shifting u can hardly keep a view angle focused on the prey(s) causes the player to loose allot of focus critical to basic tactical choices on the move, its just feels artificially limited to force it to camp on some dark corner. They should take a look at how the game Tremulous at least offers the options to turn off auto walk pitching view to give the player full control and get rid of the "hold" to walkclimb/wall and make it instant.

[strike]The predator's gameplay problem on the demo is the limited ammo/gear usage, its worse than the humans! After they depleted the ammo wich is i think 2 or 3 shots (for the shoulder laser weapon, the rest is just 1 ammo) each pick up u'r on hold waiting for the ammo locations to resuply, forcing u to go on camp&hide tactic and hope some alien doesnt find you, wich leads to other classes easily getting ahead of you in score/kills.[/strike] They could also improve the alien "xenomorphic" view i find it worse on most ocasions than without it.

The Alien class being the overall less limited one to go on rampage.

These are just impressions on the deathmatch mode, i hope the teamplay gets rid of at least some nuisances, specially the "hold" use & ammo constraints.

Visually its promising, was hopping for more large space environments(large as in bigger not wide open without objects to provide cover/ambush spots) but the demo is faithfull to the original narrow hallways with a vent here and there.

Last edit: About the Predator ammo supply remarks i did earlier were premature i didnt understand fully how to re-supply, there are 2 recharge units on the demo level wich recharge fast enough to help with, wich leads to sort of "predator territory" you wont want to go far away from them, best might be to travel from one to another. Now that i understand this i feel inclined towards the predator supremacy, unless some human gets its hand on the "rail/chain" weapon with its no where to hide targeting radar lock wich interesting enough is placed right near a predator re-supply energy unit making it a very suitable camping spot to maintain supremacy, whoever gets there first easily maintains it, its the humans way of "quad damage" i guess.

    Wtf...I cant get into a match :x

Edit: Got into a game....seriously wtf is this poo ?
I played as a marine & it was clunky as heck.

The controls are very poor in response, so I thought its due to lag induced by V sync.
I turned off V Sync & no noticeable improvements, then I plugged in my 360 controller & it was the same unresponsive pile of crap.

They mentioned flashlight being an important asset to Marines but the flashlight here is so dim & with minimal cool looking effects...that there is close to no advantage gained by it [unless you are looking at extremely dark places]

    Remake of my impressions.

Yes horrible matchmaking takes an eternity to get into a game and then until hosts leaves after some 10mins to wait anotehr 10-20min to get conencted.

Gameplay feels really good but it feels strange killing own species so team deathmatch is the only game mode IMO which sadly is not present in demo. Shooting with marine weapons feels a bit stiff but OK though being marine is nothing like alien or predator. Predator experience is much better with different visions and being able to do leap jumps up or as attack. Great weapons to. Aliens are great to bar what you said about not having free vision when walking on walls and roofs etc. Key is to learn how to use the strengths of each species and avoidsituations that expose your weakness.
I have seen lots of player playing alien as a human which would detract a lot from intended experience. I've seen aliens use the roof as walk path and rip apart soldiers from above with tail, amazing. Also using the E key to grab enemies for special attack is great. It is like Crysis it becomes what you make it to.

I also cant seem to find a key to get down on knees nor a taunt key. Sprint feels weak and not that wobbling cinematic GOW type sprint.

Demo level is IMO a bit "square" but yo ucan destroy lightsources and some command panels to and perhaps more.

Some more polygons to for stuff although for final game DX10/DX11 will certainly fix that.

Though this is WIP demo so hopefully final will ahve a lot more gameplay wise and visually. I mean I got a 4890 GPU and dual-core CPU and without vsync I get upwards 90fps! XD

The advantage will come when players realise they can destroy lightsources. Imagine team deatmatch where the aliens team destroys lights along their path!

I can imagine how fun a species TDM will be but alas I only hope for more responsive controls and crouch. [As far fetched it may seem I wish they include lean too, I dont like how more & more games these days are doing away with lean eventhough there is no issue for having it on PC ver atleast.]

EDIT: I want to "Try" playing as other species but the game wont let me into a match & I just cant keep staring at the menu so I minimize it, speaking of menu I must say the game has a really interesting menu with a nice buzzing sound. *sarcasm* Whoever thought this was a good idea for a menu ?

The game is really growing onto me. Amazing gameplay once you get a good hold of the mechanics. And it is great to see no race is overpowered, they all got their strengths and weakness. And it looks very good and this in DX9 with probably limited settings... imagine with DX11...

Some more screenshots with close encounters.

Yeah and I think there was a patch issued for demo as Steam said AvP was updated though still long wait times for me. On another note I just noticed that with full packed server and hectic combats the CPU use was 15-30% while maintaing rocksolid 60fps. My dual-core could use some more workout so I hope for big maps with 18-32 players.

A new update is out for demo. Just restart steam and it will pick it up. This new update seems to have solved match making connection issues for me.

Yea...and the worst part is I even downloaded the PSN demo & that too takes infinite amount of time to get into a match. [unable to get into one until now, I almost went on to delete it in Rageeee mode :) ]

it's not sounding good guys. ;)

How does it control compared to the older AVP games? AVP2 was particularly bleh in that regard IMO.

The demo was absolutely horrible. I would elaborate more, but unfortunately there is nothing else to say.
