Pasted URLs going broke

When I try to paste or create a link, e.g.:

Method and apparatus for static single assignment form dead code elimination

the forum software is editing the start of the URL to contain "forum.beyond3d.com" in place of the http:// .

I think it might be doing this because the link I'm trying to post has no "www" at the start, e.g. this seems to paste fine:

Thermaltake chassis leaks

URLs without "www" after "http://" are pretty common these days.

If I paste merely the URL, then no editing takes place, e.g.

http://v3.espacenet.com/searchResults?locale=en_GB&PN=US2005166194&compact=false&DB=EPODOC

Yeah, looks like a bug. Will fix, hopefully today.

Actually, I think this is a problem in how you paste them. You can manually construct URLs with no www in them just fine.

See?.

Trying building it by hand rather than pasting, since it looks like your pasting is missing off the domain somehow.

No, this behaviour has changed in the last little while. My technique for pasting URLs from the European Patent office hasn't changed.

See this thread:

http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?p=1273825&highlight=espacenet#post1273825

where the technique I've been using for pasting links worked fine.

I wonder if it changed with the forum software update.

The first link is me copy-pasting the link from that B3D thread:

Die Stacking Apparatus and Method

which is fine. This second link is me doing the same with a random link from the EPO site:

ASYMMETRICAL IO METHOD AND SYSTEM

which is broken. I wonder if it has to do with the formatting, which the forum software sees as "foreign" in some way, so it sets about normalising it. Note in this case I've left the character formatting as it was on the EPO site's link. Normally I highlight the link and reset formatting. But that's after I paste the link, by which time it's too late.

In this test I type the text, highlight it, press the insert link button and paste in the URL:

Test to EPO

The other day that didn't work right. Today it does :???:

Looks like it's a hangover from the forum software update, yeah. It's top of my list to fix when I get an hour or so. We're working on fixing some of the other bugs in the B3D theme tonight, so I'll hopefully get round to it.

I'll keep you posted.

The forum is also really, really SLOW - at least for me. I didn't bother making a new thread about it since it takes ~10+ seconds for each page update, I'll just borrow this one. :)

It's likely not my connection acting up here, as the rest of the web seems to work normally for me...
