Optical mouse doing 1 click instead of double clicks ?

Hi,

my girlfriend's computer ... is always doing 1 click instead of 2 clicks ( doubleclick ). I'm sure it's quite simple to fix .. but i have no idea where to check after the mouse options. Any idea ?

It's a basic microsoft optical mouse.
Microsoft XP Professional SP2

Have you tried "Start"-"Control Panel"-"Mouse" and seen what is assigned to her left button? :|

I guess the double click speed is set too high (for lazy fingers...)

If it's doing this in Windows Explorer then you might want to try this:

Open up Windows Explorer and select "Tools" from the Menu Bar up top. Then select "Folder Options" and then the third item on the first tabpage should be "Click items as follows." If the "single click" radio button is highlighted change it to "double click."
