I never said the price is important to me. You asssumed it was with a blanket description.
That's not my expierience - though I only played early versions of both. See my comment about Graphics versus gameplay. I load a lot of game's up go *wow* for a while then remove them from my system...includes most multi demo's that are released(and singleplyr). Very few I play for long in Multi mode. The mix isn't right the netcode suxs etc etc IMO of course. It's funny...ppl knock CS yet here in my local online Game Ladder http://games.bigpond.com/pc/index.php the only competiton with large prize money is ...wait for it...wait for it.... CS.
Not proof positive that it's teh uber leet online game but that a lot of people, and no they are not all penniless noob teens or fuddy duddys, find it a good online game. I do... I play alot on maps with 2min round times - can't handle being killed and waiting forever or waiting for a sniper hidden in "Ultra remote corner of map X" to finally get some balls and show himself.

    Striders

The videos were definitly incredible, but one thing that has got me worried. How in the heck are you supposed to kill those striders!? They seem to take an incredible amount of punishment, and then to make things worse they seem to come in groups. Now I've got nothing against difficult bosses, or monsters, but crap those things looked like they took close to a dozen rocket rounds and were under constant machine gun fire. Is anyone else possibly bothered by this?

Nah love it. You will probably have to run and hide from them in the early rounds but then probably get some better weapons like the gauss gun that makes them killable. May even be able to drive something into them :)

    Is that is Australia rainz??

    Re: Striders

They'll probably do what they did in Half Life. Remember those Gargantuans or whatever they were called big blue green beasts with one eye that shot flames out of their arms I think. You couldn't kill them early on, without solving puzzles to do it e.g. frying them or the airstrike. Later on you get weapons that can just about take them out, although you still waste a lot of bullets in doing so. My guess is that maybe in that particular scen you have to survive for a certain amount of time and then something happens. Probably later in the game you get a weapon that can deal with them. For example in the 700MB footage that fileplanet has, there's a section where the guy playing pulls out the incendiary grenade launcher shown in last years vids and uses the secondary fire(at least I'm assuming it's a seconday fire mode) to vapourise some combine troops. This attack is pretty much the same as the new and improved strider attack(blue laser beam thingy), so I'm guessing that maybe you can use that to take care of striders. Alternatively maybe you could use the manipulator gun to pick something up and use that thing to knock the strider off it's feet. My guess is if you can knock it over(especially onto it's back) it's pretty much neautralized

    Re: Striders

Yeah the knocking them over definitly occured to me. Hopefully they'll have plenty of those little buggies laying around in every map. Though I'd certainly wonder how they'd manage to set it up so you could realisticly trap them and kill them. Most of the scenes the striders are out and about in the city, and not near any sort of high voltage stations, or something similar. That and I'd assume that if they can survive multiple rocket rounds, none of the standard line voltages 110V or 220V would do much against one of those things either.

I dunno, I'm definitly looking forward to getting to kill them, they sort of bother me but in a good sort of way. :)

I don't think the striders are supposed to be easily killed, if at all! They are just there to make you piss your pants and run whenever you see them

Oh Ok so what you said was utterly irrelevant to me in my position as I allready knew it was
My point being that actually a lot of people are still quite interested in CS as it stands and CS Source wether it be the mod port or Version 2.
Looking at the recently released E3 footage I'd say graphically it will shit all over a lot of popular shooters while holding the same style of game play as the original. Wether or not the "feel" of the game is the same and if it is as popular remains to be seen.

Maybe Killer-Kris you can take one over wookie style and then reap havoc on the others stryders with a captured one :)

    Hey there Rick!

I was wondering, will bullets in Half-Life 2 ricochet.
Lets say it hits a solid metal surface at an angle would it go veering
    off in a different direction?

    Thanks for your time.

    Blake

Bullets don't but some of the particles from other weapons will.

It'll be funny if when HL2 comes out, it performs better overall than Far Cry with all the effects on.

Then we'll really know whether or not the Far Cry engine is just craptacular, as I currently suspect.

Eh? Why do you think that? The 'Far Cry' engine is bloody amazing! No other engine currently comes close in being able to render huge outdoor scenes as well as indoors. I would expect HL2 to perform better given that from the screenshots it looks graphically much simpler.
