Odd Mobo problem, just not making any sense to me

Hi,
bit of an odd question, just hoping someone can give me some ideas as to what is going on.

I've recently bought a new mobo (Abit AB9 Pro) and a water cooling kit (Gigabyte Galaxy II) amoungst other things. The pump has a lead which connects to a Molex power connector (to power the pump), the motherboard front panel header power connector and the chassis power switch. With this in place the system will not boot/ turn on/ nothing.

With this cable removed from the power switch circuit (but the pump still connected to the molex power connector) the system boots fine and the pump works.

implying there is something wromg with the Pump/pump cable.

However I have also tried the pump with my old nForce4 mobo and it worked as it should with the pump cable connected to the power switch circuit so now i'm totally confussed.

The only think I could think of is there is some incompatability between the two but tomshardware did a article where they had the two running together.

Anyone got any ideas?
