Honestly, the 3080 should have minimally 12GB of GDDR6X memory, or even 16GB on the higher-end of things.

I appreciate the lower cost. I suppose there might be a higher end variant, but this is sufficient for me.

    I'm a bit bummed the 3070 only has 8GB.

As iroboto pointed out with the 3080, Nvidia was probably price-conscious on targeting the next-generation of gaming. Something they haven't done (i.e., reasonable pricing) in quite some time.

    memory is getting quite expensive.

if you look at the 3090, with a minor increase in transistor size, but a 2.4x increase in memory, the price is doubled.

I am super suprised with the price. I have a feeling we will see higher capacity 3080 super or something with slightly faster clocks early next year. However this is a good price and I might end up buying it

You have to hand it to nvidia's marketing, they can now sell gpu's at $700 and people dont bat an eyelid

Now only if Sony and Microsoft could pull of that trick within the console space.

  11. That 3070 has 12 pin connector

On the new cooler design, it really promotes having AIO CPU coolers. Since they're fairly common these days, I think it's definitely a viable design for the FE.

I wonder if any AIB makers will make their own versions or stick solely to established full length designs?

Comes with a PCIe 8-pin connector or adapter I believe.

@Malo all the aib cards ive seen use standard cooling designs
    Is it 1 8pin or 2 8pin to 12pin on the 3070? i know its 2 on the 3090

    Wait for the 16GB model.

  16. They can now sell non-top end graphics cards for $700 and PC gamers say it's the best deal ever.

OTOH the mere suggestion of games starting to sell for more than $60 at launch is met with shock and anger..
Screw games devs in particular, I guess.

Its one of the biggest advancements in performance to date. Im not getting a new gpu this year but maybe 2021, nv comes with Ti or S versions sometime i think.
