Anyone notice the amusement in the conclusion of the TechPowerUp article?

Well it is a legitimate negative feature :)

If the card blows up, I think that deserves at least a bolded negative bullet. ;)

Look at the negative bullets of the conclusion, see if you can spot something... :p

How can one not be amused about a „second fastest” 699 (639 EUR) card - blowing up or not after supplied to much voltage is another thing.

Amg. I never noticed that! I guess my score is just too low to notice such things...

I can imagine there's some dour faces at Nvidia after seeing that conclusion though (don't think it slipped past them, or not for very long at least...). Pretty ballsy thing to do for a review site (that presumably would need to remain somewhat in NV's good graces), I must say.

Then again, maybe W1zzard wasn't amused by the hardware blowing up either. Since at least 2 sites had hardware failures when overclocking a hardcore piece of hardware I wonder how many other GF590 fatalities there have been that we've not heard of yet...

When DB sent me there to check late last night I missed the first letter thing too. I must say I don't see TechPowerUp on NV's first-day review list anymore.

It's somewhat amazing that they would underspec the VRMs for what is essentially the second implementation of their GTX 580 GPU. It's probably just cost cutting gone too far.

Yeah but it's a pretty weird price segment for that. Some of the GTX 5x0 models like the Asus Direct CU2 has a lot better components and cooler than the reference and it only costs marginally more, those can take huge abuse.

Now we have a 700$ card crashing and burning from little tweaking... 1.2v is not little for these, but it should still shut down before being destroyed and other cards have been dying for a lot less. Quite a mess.

I wonder how nVidia will treat Techpowerup from now on?

    Where's that picture from, Fellix?

I see a component missing in the left-hand bank of caps (wonder where it flew off to, lol), the flash makes it hard to see to if there's any more casualties on the right side but I don't think so. The giant purple elephant in the room is of course the large burnt area near the top of the card. I'm not sure what component is supposed to sit there or what it does - it just looks like a bunch of scarred SMDs, but again due to the flash (and low res of the picture ) it's hard to make out.

"Cool". Source? Which one is it? One of the nine reviewers' one or a bought one?

The source is too much annoyed to reveal himself, I guess. Just the picture.

Is this the most botched up launch ever?
