NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 isn't a Rebadged RTX 4080 12GB, To Be Cut Down
It turns out that NVIDIA didn't just cancel (unlaunch) the GeForce RTX 4080 12 GB last week, but also shelved the SKU until it is needed in the product stack. This is probably because NVIDIA intended to sell it at $900, and will find it difficult to justify a xx70-class SKU at this price-point...
So much for a "rename" and "price drop".
Guess the grand idea is to plug that range with the remainder of GA102 SKUs for the time being.
Will be "fun" if the lineup will end up being AD104-GA102-AD103-AD102.

I'm not really bothered all that much about raster performance, if they offer say a 4060 with 3070 raster performance but with 3080/ti RT performance and enough VRAM I would be happy.

I'm not, I just don't trust MLID "leaks" in general.

Plot twist: it was just disabled via bios, and when you cross flash it with rtx 4080 12GB bios, it became rtx 4080 12GB

its basically a paper launch hidden by its price.
Not a series yet. So far there is a single SKU with a suicidal connector.
That's much better value than any of the 40 series so far (assuming European prices). The 4080 goes around 2000 Euros, it's absurdly expensive.

A local retailer has listed the 4080 cards for around 1800€. Subject to change of course but absurd.
