Being more faster isn't always to mean better IQ  . How about image quality on the newer release? Is it improved yet so far comparison to the pass releases?

Just one nice question, are you the other NV beta tester?

the g70 has 48 ALU's also , nV has a habit of doing this, when the x1800xt was released they improved branching performance 20%.

    It is fake

    The chip is a G73 which is ~ 160mm^2. (In comparison, a GDDR3 FBGA package is 144mm^2) A 90nm shrink of G70 should give die size of 70-80% of G70 (334mm^2)

Will a G73 work in a 7900GT card? 16 PCI-E signals are not even connected to package!!!
Dailytech have removed the card picture but this link still have all.

hmm no unlike the the nv40 the 48 ALU's are used almost as efficient as they can be

    There's a rumor that G71 has _less_ transistors than G70 :)

Most interesting news however is that MS is considering dropping Vista b2 and going with RC1 instead with June-Sept RTM window. So it might turn out that G80 is just around the corner which would explain relatively low speed bump between G70 and G71 with the focus on cutting costs instead of improving performance.

Record thread length here. Somebody grab a few of the better point-at posts from above, like the G71 pic, the tran count size slide, and start a new thread? This is getting unwieldy, and as the larger community starts to focus on G71 in pre-launch week it'd be nice if we had a smaller thread for them to look at and/or participate in if they care to.

Or even bust this one off about five pages back and make it a thread from there.

Dave in the past has said that ATI and NV have counted transistors differently (I think one did not cont some or all of the transistors used in the "glue" logic) so I would not get too worried about differences. Also we have no idea of what it cost to make either card. Yes in theory, smaller die = more parts = lower cost per part. But your also forgetting yeilds have an effect on that. One part maybe a LOT better off in yeilds which has/can drastically lower or increase the cost....

That's great ! and may you look into Pure-Video part too.
