Thats what I want to know. If AEG did not agree what Rollo was doing, then why did they not cut him loose. I hope Chris, Charlnock, and Ailuros see What Rollo did and how it hurt them even though there posting behaver is nothing like Rollo. The 3 here have been very helpfull to this forum with out the marketing like Rollo did. The problem is how many Rollo like ppl are in the group and is there sub groups are in this AEG focus group. I would like to see yah comment on Rollo posting habits and if yah agree with what he did or not.

    Ok, for the last time

Name calling is not common parlance here.

DaveB's opinion has been highly regarded by a lot of members in this forum, what's his opinion about this matter can be influential. I'm not surprise if he choose to remain silent, while this is not a bad move... However, I will be more surprised if he has anything to do with AEG/NV.

I can't actually tell you why, the info was given to me in confidence by one of the people in this program.

Basically one of the people who I was ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN was in the AEG program actually isn't, and when I heard they wouldn't let him in since he was such a terminal fanthingy like Rollo it actually made me take pause.

75% of those who came out are what I consider "good people", plus bonus points for not taking in the guy I was wrong about. :)

Rumor has it that Rollo has/had a friend who works at nVidia. That's how he got into the program, and I'm gonna assume that is why he hasn't been kicked out of it yet.

Same thing as anywhere else, politics of favoratism.

Does it matter if they are influenced by the free to keep. Was it really hard to see the posters who get the "new" hardware ( when before theyt wouldnt spend a dime over midrange). Why wouldnt sombody change there ideas about "SLi" when they finnaly have one to playwith. There seems to be a haves and have nots class warfare going. I see no reason for anybody to "outthem" selves. Heck the amount info from there usage is great. The only issue is if a "shill" is bad mouthing a competitors product. It's the anti posters that need to be taken with a grain of salt. Its been this way for along time. In the early days you would have to match IPs between websites posting historys).. found nvda employes...( yeah they dont post...err). All in all the free gear is ok by me as long as the info is not at the expense of the competition. Heck let PR/DevREl do that with "leaked" PDFs....

Wow, let's calm down a little on the conspiracy theory for a minute.

Dave does not post because he simply has other things to do as we speak.

The AEG program is targeted toward the enthusiasts not the journalists.

Rollo is very skilled at what he does. He exerts much influence over the anandtech vid forums (which is not a small user base) and often controls the agenda. The four people out so far have great communication skills. A person that uses Rollo's techniques of personal attack poorly, would be abolutely useless as a marketing move. But a few Rollo types can be very effective as part of a more moderate campaign. At least that is how politics work in Canada. Still the moderate people do not make the dirty tricks less dirty.

A small question that I'm not sure that would be answered by anyone in the AEG program. Did the group had any influence whether direct or indirect to the input of the Direct Access feature? I've hated this feature since its inception and rather happy after its removal in the Forceware drivers. I'm sure there was feedback on this and am curious... I seriously wouldn't have bought any NVidia cards if said feature were not fixed, implemented properly, or removed....

One little comment on this. I think the main reason why I'm largely positive towards SLI now is due to the 80-series drivers. I had to drop back to the 70-series a couple of times due to dual-core issues, and the experience was less than pleasant.

So, if I had been sent an SLI system earlier, I probably wouldn't have been nearly as positive. If I had bought one, I think I would have been much more positive. Being sent the hardware, however, I place much less value on it.

I've never seen such a positive spin on such BS before.....atleast, there's still good information to be had on this board.
With such an innocent program, why are the rest hiding? :(

At some point you have to stop being a bitch and learn to take it like a man. (sorry for the harsh language :()
No reason why from this day, all their members can't put "AEG/nvidia affiliate" in their signatures.

Why should we? It doesn't define who we are.

You know what guys, I've got 2.5 months, the thread starter, 33 pages, and 132 of my own posts in this thread.

The purpose of making this thread in the first place was to try to get this thing out in public --find out what it is and who is part of it. I think we've (with help around the 'net) largely accomplished that.

I have no desire in the least to stifle discussion, but at the same time I really do see the "what do we all think about it now that we see the details?" part of this discussion that we now appear to have entered as in fact a second discussion, and I'd just as soon someone else thread on that and take the lead as "thread host" who feels the responsibility to be part of the discussion as it goes along. I'm tired.

So what does AEG define then? Aren't you just there for beta testing and feedback?

Well, if we have to put one affiliation in our sigs, then I guess we gotta put all of them in there... I can see it now

You see, the thing is if there's any spin given to anything, the only persons to blame are the one who were not able to convey their opinion in a coherent and thoughtful manner.

If the only counter argument to AEG members points are along the lines of name calling and sweeping generalizations that do not adress the points being brought by the AEG members people who disagree can't blame no one but themselves because they didn't keep on with the debate.

If some people are looking for simple conclusions or concensus, such as "AEG members are bad" or "AEG members are great" they better bring some elements and materials to the discussion, and stop relying on tedious rethorics such as "It's obvious they're bad, because it's obvious". If you think that this AEG program is something obviously bad, demonstrate it, argument it. And maybe people will try to understand your views.

Finger pointing and name calling will never take your point of view anywhere.

PS: I know that some people in this thread expressed their disagreement quite perfectly.
