thought so no respose, just like a prosecutor without any evidence. I'm defending Chris because I have know him for awhile and there are many times we have discussed or argued against each other on things when both of us were on ATi's side, so this is not what you are thinking it is.

Well you're not entirely correct, I know how scary I can be.. ;)

Dumb question but I'm really having a hard time remembering; are you the Chris who hates my guts or was it the other one? :-|

I think the whole explaination doesn't change who you are or anything. I think the concept behind it seems alright for the most part.. it clears up some FUD really and that's really appreciated. Though, seeing the comments from another member does make you wonder sometimes... At least knowing some of your comments and a long standing credibility you have gives this whole group some hope anyhow... It could be worse, we could've seen a yahoo diverge info and make it look worse than it is....

I think he's pointing out that while there were three different sources of info on this lately all three basically said the exact same thing, and all came out right around the same time.

There has to be some type of contractual agreement on things like this. Come on Game dev programs have contracts and this is without anything to do with pre release hardware.

The problem I see here is that while I see ChrisRay as a balanced, helpful poster, which has oppinions you can agree or not but always exposed with respect, Rollo is the clasical example of guerrilla war. The fact that both belong to the same marketing program puts ChrisRay in a bad situation, as a spanish proberb says "tell me who you are with and I'll tell you who you are"

If I hated your guts I never woulda replied to all your questions in PM. I sometimes dislike the things you post though. But hey. I bet you dislike some of the things I post!

Well, dont want to insult that "other" member. I certainly dont see eye to eye with them on a significant number things. I hope you understand that. I spent alot of time stressing over whether posting this was the "Right" thing to do. And I feel a bit cheapened by the fact that some people see this as some sorta PR move because the other member decided that. "Hey he did it! I must too!". Thats all I'm gonna say about it. I'm not terribly happy about it. But theres very little I can do.

If it's any consolation Chris, I think you did the right thing and I think you'll feel a whole lot better about being able to talk about it/not having to worry about not talking about it on the boards from now on.

Heck, I can't remember the last time I heard you trying to push one brand over the other....you're just the helpful type with the good info. :)

Well, one douchebag doesn't spoil the whole program...

The best way to approach it (assuming you think it sounds "legal") is go by what OpenGL guy (I think) uses for his sig... as long as you can abide by it, you're fine.

I agree. This is really a ridiculous stand by some of the posters here. If anything, my making this post has to be in support of ChrisRay, not as any sort of PR move on my part.

    (yes, I'm coming out too)

Bear in mind that we are not directly-affiliated with nVidia. While I may have been somewhat insulted by a number of the ridiculous statements made, I haven't posted until now because this was nVidia's problem, not mine. And until now, nVidia has not made it clear how they wanted to respond to the situation, so I saw no reason to worry about it.

Our relationship with nVidia has had some effects on how we post here, of course, but I think they're mostly positive.

One direct effect can be seen in my post a bit ago about how to disable dual-core optimizations. I learned about this workaround through my relationship with AEG. And when I do find significant issues (either through my own experience or from other posters on this board), I'm going to continue to try to work with them to get those issues resolved.

It may, of course, be affecting my bias towards nVidia, but I had an nVidia bent for years before I joined up (how much depends on who you ask, I'm sure, so I'm not going to bother to talk about that...). So I doubt that this relationship should change what you think about anything that I write (or ChrisRay, or anybody else who makes their membership known).

Heya, Chal. . .you were only #2 on my list. Glad to see you come out as well, to balance out the bad taste that Rollo just left. That would be another checks and balance that more transparency provides --no arguing that NV doesn't have some degree of responsibility re Rollo (Yes, he was the caveat I had in mind upstream). I hope they do something about that.

Funnily enough, recently your posts have seemed more balanced. Maybe I am imagining things.

You're okay with me, Chris, fwiw, and I've been assuming you were in since day 1.

    Pfft.

    Get over yourself.

The way I post is pretty good evidence nVidia DOESN'T direct our posts. They just want enthusiasts who buy high end parts to post their experience with theirs, and report back to them.

QFT, Rollo even had me fooled. He continually denied affiliation with AEG to me over PM and his was the most virulent anti-ATi style of marketing I've ever witnessed.

What was that post the other day of yours at AnananananananandaTech about reasons for getting a 512MB 7800 GTX the other day again? Someone was mentioning it....

You start wondering how he gets picked, given the way he posts... at least Chalnoth, it's practically a no brainer...
