nVidas replys are beginning to have a real "Keystone Kops" feel to it........

Yes....maybe that's a bit too old for most here... In an never ending quest to educate the youngsters here at B3d.....;)

That article by the consumerist is a terrible bit of journalism. they've managed to take some of the allegations out of the Pennyarcade forum post ( where the poster does not refer to which company it is ) and then add them to geo's and Hanners findings of community outreach and then thrown them all back at nvidia.

Then Derek responds with something that is more in line of what we thought was happening, people are offered tidbits to make sure the right facts ( as nvidia see them at least ) are put across.

This Penny arcade poster, has the consumerist checked whether he is a reliable source and what company he was refering too ? Was it nvidia ?

Anyhow, got to dash, got to meet "Mr D" for some new instructions before pro-seeding further , if you get my drift ;)

Maybe he disgrees with the term "gifts" ;)

I was actually surprised Mr. Perez responded to that; I agree 100% with your opinion on that said piece of "journalism"

Hey Digi, I knew your day would come.

You have been officially named as a suspect by a few tools in this thread. I think they missed the part of members grooming their accounts to appear as non biased and then spreading FUD. You've been an ATI man since day one. Painfully obvious, except to these fart smellers. LOL.

PS. Hellbinder you should be proud too.

Not quite sure how to do that. I'm banned there as well, so I just don't log in. Your IP banned I take it?

Anyways, this quote fro OWA should sum it up nicely!

"I don't know if this is true or not but the first time I heard about this, they didn't mention the company and I would have bet that it was ATI they were talking about. It's hard *not* to think that since they've got guys like DW and HB registered on just about every forum on the planet always trying to keep the forums pro-ATI. If that doesn't fit the profile of the article, I'm not sure what does. Not just a few posts, thousands of posts (at least for DW). It's one of the reasons I rarely venture outside of this site. Dealing with that is just tiresome. Anyway, couple that with the fact that ATi's employees post on several forums as well (even here) and I think it's easy to see why I came to that conclusion.

Heh, the article is a little surprising but it's not surprising seeing EB and B3D are behind it though. I'm pretty sure I could have guessed that if they hadn't spelled it out."

I'm not quite sure if its lack of intelligence or refusal to understand plain english at work there.

Hehe, well they seem to be taking it well

*sigh* maybe we should go against geo's wishes and compile a list of probable suspects for each side and see which one's longer

What about paying the best overclocker in the world to never use the nvidia hardware. What about putting PR people in the xtremesystems forums to start threads about some long distant motherboard that eventually will never see the light of day? What about hiring the best overclockers loyal to ATi in order to play with handpicked hardware, hardware that at that time is not available on the market, and thus creating an unfair competition between overclockers.
Really, ATi should stay out of community forums like XS, if your product is good, you don't need that.

Hiring of one of the top overclockers was a well publicised event, and therefore a moot point on your part.

    The rest you're grasping for.

    Thanks

I'm just impressed they finally got around to talking about it at all! I did a search for AEG on their forums some time ago and found nothing!

Edit: Tho having read the thread now, I'm also not surprised that many of them went for full-out "shoot the messenger" mode.

Are you part of XS? Do you even have the slightest clue of what I'm tallking about? Or does this fall in your anti-ati category so it has to be denied in every way.

Ah, gotcha. I misunderstood you, thanks for clarifying.

Yeah, I could see that. I actually remember when I got my engineering sample 9700 pro from Terry that I was a bit nervous about telling people where I got it at first, but I was even more nervous about NOT telling them and having them just find out.... :???:

I find transparency to be a wonderfully liberating thing though, it keeps me from worrying about what I say when I post....and I do NOT like having to think when I post so I just try and keep it as honest as I know how at all times.

Nah. As long as you don't see an angry nVidia mob somewhere burning geo and Dave Baumann puppets, you're probably safe.

Jesus....... none of what you say has any bearing on this thread, none of what you say (except the way you post it) is in any way unethical... And, as far as ATi's employees here goes, I'm sure most here would welcome nVidia's employees IF they could. ATi's employees idenify themselves up front, as do all of the Cat beta testers I know of.....Sheesh!

XS seems to be one of the tightest knit communities out there, so I just find it hard to believe people there would put up with shit like this.

    However you might be right.

Links to threads dealing with what you've said would go a long way to prove your points.

    Patiently awaiting those.

    Thanks.
