I'd want to see who these people are before making those kind of final judgements. Useful members of the community, with long reputations and a clear pro-NV bent wouldn't be objectionable to me --more 'duh, how smart of NV to support him', actually.

I read what Rys said about NV legal in the linked conversation I provided, and I can't foreclose the possibility this is all just a big company engaging in crappy cross-department communication as to what the intent was here. Derek Perez has now (apparently) said in semi-public (the Consumerist summary of their phone call) that there is no NDA here foreclosing members from disclosing their participation. Well, okay, that wasn't my understanding. . .but now that the executive sponsor of the program has said that is his understanding, I hope members will start acting on that understanding. . .

I would have no problem with this if the members stated who they are and what the goals of the members are.

By the way, I could think of 2 ppl that could be members to this like RUINED and ROLLO.

Hrmm... What a bunch of trouble-makers you all are!
I think a coup de grace for Nvidia would be to get DW to sing their praises.
Surely a sign that the apocolypse is nigh...

I think it is a bit disturbing to think that a. a very modest witch-hunt may be underway, and b. we may have witches in our midst.

I really cannot understand how some people can be so blind to the things surrounding them.

Yeah, sorry, still not a useful thing to be doing --but if Perez is serious about there not being an NDA, now is the time for folks to come forward on their own. Engage in the "community outreach" that this program has been advertised on AEG's website as being all along.

Well, I wouldn't go that far.

If NV hiring AEG is as innocuous as we'd all like to believe, and as I'm generally inclined to believe (my suspicions of certain posters notwithstanding), why wasn't this communicated to us early and often by both parties? You have to wonder how a PR dept as maligned as NV's for being so efficient would ignore this. We're surely not too small to merit a response, as it's precisely forums like these that are being targetted.

And am I the *only* one who turned AEG down (technically, never even talked with them)? Who's smart and on top of things now?

Thats two possible supects. I can't think of anyone else. It's way easier to find people likely to be payed by ATI. Are you sure it's really NV thats behind this? The reds fits the profile way better.

Really? I can't think of anyone who would fit on that side, and besides ATi has said they don't do it.

Not at all. Rather I'm not convinced that it's been required of engaged people, that signed NDA, to keep quiet about it.

If that's true, then why haven't we heard anything from anyone that's in the program? If not to just say, "hey, I'm in the program and take a look at my posts and see I'm not such a bad person" ;). Seems that, if it wasn't some kind of secrets to be hiding....then they would be hidden!

There are 3 choices out there where D. Perez is concerned:
    1) He's being truthful
    2) He's lying
    3) He doesn't know

    Pick your poison........door # 1, 2 or 3!

BTW, cosider this. Kyle at [H], whom some feel is somewhat nVidia oriented posted this in their thread concerning this subject:

There are probably at least five or six levels across two companies and then outside the companies to private individuals in this program. That's enuf room for wires to get crossed. Tho why they didn't get uncrossed when this story broke in December, I dunno. Me, I'm more interested in getting problems fixed and moving on to the next. This was never about "gotcha" for me; this was about getting a community outreach program to have the visibility in the community we have every right to expect it ought to have.

Absolutely! Understand, I don't feel nVidia is evil, just unethical. And, fact is, I still not only buy their products, but own more nVidia products than ATi products. In most cases I buy what I feel is the best deal, no matter who makes it. Of course, I always get the new generation highend(or just below the highest end;)) from both companies just becauser I take everything on posted on the net with many large grains of salt. And, if nothing else, this thread is just another good reason to do so.

Interesting, though, that I recall at least a thousand posts written by a thousand other people which essentially have said the same thing. Pretending that I am the "only one" is not only inaccurate, it's ridiculous. Point in fact: which were the websites which broke the "3d-Mark cheating fiasco" which Martrox speaks of above, if not B3d and ExtremeTech? In fact, I actually learned of the events therein from both of these websites. Saying that I am singled out because "it's all I've got" is an extremely lame characterization, imo. Perhaps it is because I usually put it so well?....;)

Unfortunate as you may feel it to be, my time is limited these days for forum hopping. Sorry...;)

And now, the INQ posted it...
Nvidia denies it seeded forums with chums

Why let people whip up a storm that can damage your reputation and undo all your hard marketing work when a clear statement can clear everything up to your advantage?

Dodging the question, threatening lawsuits and trying to get other people to pressurise the article author just makes you look guilty of something underhand, because that's the way you are acting. Now you can see how this poor handling of the situation has exploded over the web because Perez has made it look like there is fire under all the smoke.

If you're doing nothing wrong, especially when you are being accused, the logical thing is to come out and catagortically say you're doing nothing wrong, just like Catalyst Maker did.
