Whats GTA still doing up there? I thought it was long gone from the Top 10...

wow, mercs sold better on the xbox than ps2. That's odd. Usually its close but the other way around. Looks like RE4 is selling better than I expected. Thats great. From the 10 minutes I played of it at the display stand, at the mall, it seemed amazing. I would love to play it all the way through.

I was also suprised by the Mercenaries numbers. I'd been looking at EB game charts and it seemed like the PS2 version was selling slightly better then the XBox one.. apparently not. RE4 sold better then most people expected. Just before these numbers came out there was an analyst report which said they thought that GTA:SA and Halo 2 would be the big sellers in Janaury. They said that they doubted that RE4 would sell more then 100,000....

I think 320,000 is really quite good considering it represents 2 and a half weeks of sales in January (the slowest month for game sales). I think RE4 may just end up hitting 1 million sold in the U.S.

Rofl. Not slamming anyone or anything, but you can tell which company had a good month by simply looking at the starter for "NPD numbers" thread.

What happened to that fabled Xbox "momentum"? Friction?

Actually alot of retailers were still sold out of Xbox systems. Last month you couldn't buy a new Xbox anywhere around where I live. That and alot of people are probably on their 2nd or 3rd ps2 by now. Those things just aren't made to last and it is pretty good for playing movies. ;) jk

 So that's how they sell! The devious bastards....

I assume it's holdover shortages and excitement over the new PSTwo model now that IT actually became available too. ;)

Less obvious then usual....

Cube sales were down year over year, but they were still much better than 2003 or 2002 numbers, so they might have gotten a smal boost from RE4. Those that expected some magic boost suddenly turning the sales trend for the cube around were still wrong of course. It's too late for that.

Actually it did move consoles, but of the refurbed kind. Visit Ebgames site and in the GC only charts you'll notice that whats selling is RE4, RE:Remake, Refurbed GC, and StarFox.

What's a Refurbed GC?

Refurbished, basically its been repaired. I would assume most trades(consoles) are sent to repair shops to make sure there aren't any defective parts before they are sold to consumers.

I've been off the game sites mostly for the past few months but when I look at a few recent sales charts I see that the Xbox has comfortably sold more then the PS2... When did this trend start?
