Assuming these are NPD numbers.

PS2 : 10 titles - 1.35 million games total sold
Xbox: 10 titles - 330,000 games total sold
GC: 10 titles - 390,000 games total sold

Notes:
PSO on XB - yikes, but thats what they get for REQUIRING XBL for offline play.
Tao Feng - Heh :?
Can EA do any wrong??

Splinter Cell: 274k PS2, 32k Xbox (for the month), 25k GC
NBA Street vol2: 190k PS2, 64k Xbox, 19k GC

Half of the 10 GC titles were published by Nintendo. These 5 titles total 274k, or 70% of the GC games sold.

edit: don't think you need me to say that 3rd parties are still getting the shaft on GC.

Too lazy / don't care about GBA, someone else can do it :p

I was really missing these *lists* on B3D....SC is selling like hot cakes...I wonder if it may prompt Ubisoft to bring out the sequel first on PS2.....SOCOM and Halo are still making their presence felt!

Why? SC sold 4x as much on Xbox :) (blah blah holiday season blah blah :LOL: )

It's not really a Top 40 list, though. NPD have released the Top 10 for each platform, and this list is just those 40 games put into the same list. The real Top 40 would have a lot more PS2 games.

Did I say the X word?? It was only an observation btw! There are no PS2 games after no16 (SOCOM)... :oops:

First party game sales for all three console makers:

Nintendo = 1,035,499
Microsoft = 102,585
Sony = 58,935

Third party game sales on all 4 systems:

PS2 = 1,292,000
XBox = 227,415
GBA = 201,144
GC = 116,180

Estimated revenue from Aprils game sales for all three console makers:

Nintendo = $56,534,810
Sony = $22,326,750
Microsoft = $8,540,475

Yup, that just goes to prove 3rd parties don't have much luck on the cube.

It proves that just as much as it proves that first party games don't sell well on PS2 and XBox. In the end its not down to the systems, its down to the first and third party games being released on those systems.

Ikaruga... 39th place, under 19k units. :(

Hoping to buy mine tomorrow at the latest. Bought Silent Hill 3 for PS2, but haven't booted it up yet.

either that or they don't produce quality games...

Well, I wouldn't consider that the case when looking at titles like splinter cell, GTA, and so many other great third party games. Splinter cell has sold well on all platforms withthe exception of the cube, correct?

I see you still haven't taken my advice and stopped trolling

What game do you mean by GTA?

Splinter Cell for GC was released after the XBox, PC and PS2 versions. Also it had nothing to distinguish it from any of the other versions. It was a PS2 port, with slightly better textures but without the extra's that PS2 got. So not only was the game released late, but there was also no reason for anyone to wait for it to be released either, unless they don't have an XBox, PS2 or PC.

Deepak

GC does get a lot of the same games as PS2 and XBox, but not all of them. Also a lot of the time they're late and or are crappy PS2 ports.

I don't think that's the only reason for not soo good third party sales though. Another reason is the very high quality first party games on GC. Take April for instance, 158,000 people bought Zelda in that month, most of those people will not buy two games in a month.

This has to do with a lot of things, retailers don't carry as many third party on GC as they do on PS2. You have to search for certain games at different stores. Release dates are a big issue because most GC gamers are related to or know someone who has a PS2, that more than likely have the game thats being released two or three months later on the GC.
One example is Mace Griffin BH it was originally supposed to release anlongside (June)PS2, and Xbox versions but instead its been pushed back to September. Bad move in my eyes. Now they have to compete with games like Fzero,FFCC,Soul Calibur2, and the following months after you got games like RS3, MGS:TT and whatever highprofile game to be released during that time frame. When I go into my local Gamecrazy I see 15 copies of NBA Street Vol.2 on the shelves for PS2 and about four for GC. Nintendo just have to release more demos, so the demand for certain games would be higher(specifically third-party).
