"Personal starcraft were extremely rare - governments and corporations travelled between the stars as they pleased, not us little people. Not hardly ever. But the lawyer said the will was clear — my mother had left me an old cargo hauler. Her first ship and now it was mine. Now I can travel the stars as I please. Now I can find out what really happened to her.''

    This could be good.

Edit: Oh man after reading their webpage I think this could be really good, and also really hard to pull off.

If done right, this could be modern Star Control 2.

Heh, I just noticed this post over at Joystiq, and it gave me gigantic Homeworld thrills and tingles...

Why isn't this game a new Homeworld? That universe was really quite fascinating, and everybody seems to love it and basically only have good things to say about the game series. Me too.

The A.I. during singleplayer cheated pretty mad in HW2 and had a tendency to go into autistic withdrawal mode during skirmish multiplayer if you beat it up too much even though it still had harvesters left. Apart from that... Not much to complain about.

The single-player story was pretty epic I must say. I so wish the next chapter will look at least as good as that 'stiq shot!

Yeah, that pic screams Chris Foss/Peter Elson-inspired art direction, and HW's one was also influenced by their work. I drool at the thought how good HW3 would look in combination with Essence 2.0. And it would be less expensive to made that ground-based RTSs or TPS/action games due to the nature of the space RTS. Significantly less assets to build and such.
