oh, and i realize that stoneroots are in the miscellaneous chart. i just missed them i guess...all 30 of them.

figured it out. they aren't in your SELL chart only your inventory chart.

only had 1 heap error last night, but im now saving much more (paranoid) to avoid long replays. still having fun.

I seem to have fixed the crashes. I went back to the default .ini and only applied a handfull of carefull memory and performance tweaks, which I remembered not to cause me any problems before (edit: I foudn a good summary, containing most of the things I did to tune my game to only 1GB of RAM HERE, its in german, but the settings should be understandable to anyone). I also have a little tool running in the background while playing now, RAM Idle LE, which clears up wasted RAM once available physical memory reaches a certain limit. Doesn't affect performance in the game from what I can tell and I haven't had a crash since.

Performance and visuals are pretty good, the stuttering only happens when I travel longer distances fast. Once an area and its surroundings are loaded, it plays very smooth.

I'm lvl 42 now and should soon be able to get a Paladin's armor. Will go nicely with my new helmet... :)

DOH! i used to use something similar (free tool) RAM manager when i ran windows ME. and it helped alot in games others were having 'leaks' when they played.

i was told XP already had it's own and running a 3rd party might mess it up.

THANKS for reminding me about it. i may give that a try.

i downloaded Rambooster (my old friend from ME days). v1 didn't support XP, though v2 does. no heap errors so far.

Has anybody with the game been able to enable AA with the post processing effects on?

    Sadly, no.

I would very much like to see Gothic 3 with transparency AA. Imagine the grassy plains with AA

Nice screeny! I only visited that area yesterday, its beautifull and demonstrates perfectly why the landscapes in Gothic 3 are, IMO, much nicer designed than Oblivion's...

Grr damn disk thrashing is killing me so I decided to add another Gig of ram to PC (now at 3GB) and decided to create a 2GB Ram disk, removed the Video folder from Gothic 3 as well as the Speech_English.pak and Music.pak so I can put all of gothic 3 folder on ram drive (folder is at 1.82GB) ..

now maybe wont die to damn wolves during disk access ;p

i installed Rambooster (the app i used on my ME rig years ago) version 2 supports XP.

had NO heap errors, or corrupted saves last night. 0...been getting 2-3 the past few nights...luckily my double saving approach kept the damage minimal. but i even abandoned that last night. back to quicksave only.

Gothics DOF seems to be one of the better implementations i've seen on the PC.

    Yes.

I'm only level 4 by now, played 5 hours so far, but it's very satisfying. There is very much to do, whatever I want, and most of it is way too hard for me at this moment. And I can develop and grow however I want. But I'm pretty sure those things will be easy in twenty hours from now. Although there will be other things marked "go back when ready" by then. That's how I like it!

And no bugs so far except for many totally black rocks underground. (Patch 1.8.)

    :D

I was wondering if anyone could give me a hand with a quest, I'm not that far into the game, probably about 4 hours in at lvl 10. I'm currently trying to up my reputation at Cape Dun but I seem to have come pretty close to exhausting the quests available to me to do so. I've done the arena stuff, the healing plants, I've killed the bandits and I've got the paladin's chalice. I think I'm currently on rep 50 out of a needed 75. I turned down the quest to hunt down a freed slave on moral prinicpals and as far it seems my current active quests are to kill the hungry wolves, return the belongings to the warehouse and to get some weapon bundles for the swineherder.
Unfortunately I've killed a few hungry wolves but obviously not enought to complete the quest, does anyone know where they are? I've also collected all the stuff not locked in metal chests from the bandits cave but this doesn't seem to be enough to complete the warehouse quest either. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I think providing Jens the hunter with wolfskins will help... the wolves to be killed are all back along the path towards Ardea, to its north I think and not that far, really. There are a few groups of bandits around - I don't think the ones you want are in a cave... that shipment is very obvious when you find it... There's also a chance to steal from the quartermaster, that might (?) help your rep.

Any more opinions on the new patch? Is the game ready for prime time?

thanks, got it sorted now by slaying the wolves and collecting all the wolfskins around town. "Liberating" the town is a weird experience, you can't help but feel bad murdering all the people you were happily chatting to a few minutes ago. Anyway, despite the game being unbelievably shonky and having some of the weakest production values I've seen in a while it is still surprisingly a lot of fun, I've been playing for hours today and can feel myself getting hooked.

Also the patch seems to have helped things a fair bit, a lot less visual glitching and flickering here and it seems to have improved my framerate too.

The two technical problem that seem not to have been fixed (for me) are crashes & corruption on saving, and glitches on displaying the ocean. The patch has made other improvements. They (or I) need to sort out the crash before this can be said to be done...
