    Hehe, well bear in mind that I posted all that in order to flush out contrary, or at least better-informed views!...

    Z is 3 bytes and stencil is 1 byte as far as I know. There's no reason for this to change in an FP16 framebuffer as opposed to a conventional 32-bit buffer. So compression for AA sampling (i.e. z-samples required for MSAA) wouldn't necessarily be up for review as part of any efficiency improvements for FP16.
