Another red-ring of death.. However, I had that first a day before the update, so I can not blame the NXE.. After installing NXE, now it is permanent.. Probably coinsidence..

However, no complaints.. My three-year warranty for the red-rings will expire next Tuesday.. Actually, it broke just in time :) Now, I am ok for at least for another year-maybe two and I do not mind buying an arcade for 150$ next year! :)

Sorry, but that doesn't work. Triggers make the channels go up & down. If you use the bumpers it will get you quicker to the end of the list but if you have a lot of friends it still takes a lot of bumper pressing before you get there.

Sorry to hear that man. I had a friend who also got a RROD last week before NXE. I haven't gotten it yet either, but I did get the "Unplayable Disc" error before NXE. Wanted to wait till I got the NXE before I sent it off for repair. Right now it doesn't display any error on NXE. Just says ""Open Tray". :( I hate to be without my system, but hopefully I'll get it back before Christmas. As soon as I get it back, I'm selling it and buying an Elite.

That sucks too! I hope they send yours back also in time. I think all early adaptors have to go through this! I wonder if there is still anyone who still has a functioning launch 360 :)

Btw, my old box actally suvived just long enough for me to see the NXE in action, and then it broke down, and it actually broke down 5 days before my warranty ends, and it was sent for repair while I will be out of town. I guess I should not be complaining at all :)

Dont buy stand alone hard drive

    hi guys,

I'm in australia, this is my first post, so the prices i will quote here are in australian dollars, but i'm hoping the prices will be of similar proportions to yours in the states. I read a few comments on here who have a 20gb xbox, they are thinking about buying the bigger hardrive to allow for space for the game to be transfered onto the hardrive. May i suggest something that i did. The 60gb/120gb hardrive are about $150-$200. So instead of buying one of those, i just bought a brand new 360 pro for $399 that comes with the 60gb hardrive, hdmi ( my older console didnt have it) and falcon chip , although i believe you can get the 360 with the jasper chip now, if it was manufactured after august 08, not entirely sure you will have to check this out. Then i sold my old 20gb console for $199 to a friend, although i could have gotten more for it. SO i think this is better off, i spend the same amount of money, but got an entirely new console.

    HELP!!!

For some reason Netflix won't get past 2 bars on video quality. I was able to stream some Hi Def stuff a couple of days ago, but since yesterday I've been only getting 1 or 2 bars.

I'm on Cox cable with plenty of bandwith with nothing else downloading. I'm turning to the tech gods for an answer.

reset your router. It should fix the problem. Sometimes they just screw up.

I see, thanks for enlightening me about this subject. My TV has an input port in the rear which says "HDMI/DVI in", so the solution you provided should work.

I've been playing RB2 for about a week with the VGA cable just for the sake of testing the image quality (it's in fashion now) :lol2:, and the sound -somethind I explain in a different thread-.

The 1680x1050p resolution is amazing to look at, but I can't bear the washed out looks of VGA and the lack of colour and not being able to use the Picture controls for more than a couple of options.

Even with Dynamic settings turned on, the colours don't look right, imo.

While I loved the 1050p resolution, I'm thrilled with 720p and Just Scan over HDMI.
This feature is a bless. The noise isn't half as noticeable in the new models -I have an old one and a 60 GB new model-, both when the DVD drive is spinning or using the Dashboard, but it's still there.

Now, when I play games.., how could I explain it, it's just the music, the sound and you.

I didn't mind the noise much in te past, I was pretty happy with the storm  but currently I think it's the best addition of the whole NXE

Tried that and only got it to 2 bars.
I'm sure it's not my connection as I'm getting really good download speeds.
I've tried it both wireless and wired with the same results and when I was streaming in HD before it was thru the wireless adapter.

I'm wondering if maybe its the Netflix servers not being ready to handle the increased traffic.

I was actually worried about all my DLC content, which is quite a lot. I'm easy going in these matters, but it got annoying when I know so little myself. It looks like they fixed it anyways.

I have more than 40 XBL Arcade games, tons of Rock Band songs and some other dlc of games I didn't like (Mass Effect -this wasn't bad, best game of this list by a long shot-, GeoW, Halo 3, Bioshock, CoD4, Forza 2, etc) but I'm (well, I was) easily influenced with these things and gave in to tempation....

I have a serious problem with the DRM right now, because I licensed most of my DLC content to another 60 GB console , who died 2 months ago (electric problem, not MS' fault this time), MS replaced it with a new one but I can't transfer the licenses. I have to wait until I can transfer the licenses again (12 months).

I can only play my "old" Arcade games, and my RB songs if I'm online. And sometimes the connections fails. That means I can't play RB2 mistery songs in World Tour mode, or Braid, Pinball FX, etc.

Conversely, it very rarely happens but it does.

After I bought RB2 all my other games "dissappeared", thus having more than 100 songs I can't play or being unable to play mistery setlists because 90% of the time the game gives you an error ID sending you to the main screen, is an annoyance.

Hector; sry to hear that. It's only a good thing if they replace the old model with a new one, though.

Netflix streaming gurus... why is it that I can watch Netflix PC streams in pretty good quality (not sure of res) but on 360 it looks worse than standard Def tv on my HDTV? I have a 3mbit connection; 800 up. the Netflix quality bar (and my Wireless 360 connection -54g) show 3/4 bars green. the PC shows 3 white bars and says I have a high connection.

Is this from the wireless connection? so far the service and everything about NXE rocks my socks but this is a little disappointing as I was hoping for good quality images on movies. native pic setting shows small rectangle (16:9) picture (which looks good) but at the default full screen it zooms it to nearly ugly values.

Tap, do you get the same results from Ethernet? If so, perhaps it's a router issue.

Call support, I believe if they replace your console, they will allow you a license transfer, but you have to call them so they can do it for you.

I can watch thirty rock with 4 of the bars maxed out on my 360. I'm on fios with a 20/5 connection and i'm using a cat 6 cable running from my router to my xbox 360. This is with my main computer up and running (surfing the web) and my fathers computer surfing the web wirelessly down stairs. Actually it looks better than watching the eps live on the high def broadcast.

I don't think its the nxe thats the problem.

According to this blog post (see the Delivered Quality section), there are several quality levels that Netflix can stream. AVS Forum has a nice summary table. It sounds like you get to choose the stream quality on the PC/Mac, but the XBox is making its own choices, based on your link speed plus a 40% overhead. Looking at the bit rates on the table, my guess is that your 54 kbps wireless connection is limiting the stream quality.

If y ou have a wireless laptop why don't you put it by your xbox and what its performance. My friend had a similar problem with netflix but it was the strength of his wireless signal that kept changing where his xbox was. I solved this with a bigger antenna for his router. Perhaps you might need to do the same or if the xbox wifi adapter can upgrade the antenna do that there. This is what i used
