Voxels complicate things a lot from what I heard. It's simply not going to happen anytime soon.

Unless you are going to do a Toy Story like movie.

This technique doesn't seem to lend itself well to 3D acceleration, and it's also not a high-quality approach from what I've gathered, more of a "looks fair and faster than the alternatives" method.
