That is great news. For everybody waiting for BG3 here you go

*Imagines an amusing scene featuring the droves of RPGers who have been saying everything sucks when compared to BG2 for the last 6 years writhing in agony*

I've stopped playing for now, as I can't find a way to fix that dialogue bug. Guess I'll wait for the next patch and see if that helps...

Strangely appropriate, Tragedy in Tragidor was also the first good nwn 1 module.

Literally years later and I still have fond memories of the first installment. I've always meant to go back and replay it. I was quite pleased when I noticed the author was posting on the nwn 2 boards. But it'll be a while before I get to it because I'm just starting Act 2.

It's also neat that he got a bunch of work done on this one by importing scripts and dialog (70,000 words, I think) from the first one.

I've never seen that sort of bug, so have you tried reinstalling the game? Sometimes errors during the install process can cause this sort of weird error.

Saying NWN2 barely looks better than NWN1 is kinda obsurd though, Some may not like its artwork or its performance. But the graphics are way way way better IMO. Especially the lighting.

No, didn't try that yet, maybe I'll give it a go this weekend. The first install seemed to take ages, maybe the DVD doesn't like my drive or something...

Well, I had an old game that liked to have errors on install, and I found that first copying the files to the hard drive tended to clear the issue up. So if you have problems the second time, you might want to try that.

1.04 beta is out. Go here for changelog and to download. Most of the updates are UI related.

Indeed. I don't know how many Attacks of Opportunity my mage had to endure because of that stupid casting on the defense never being active when you need it...thank god there's greater stoneskin.

I must admit I have essentially no idea what I'm doing in combat. It's 20 years since I played D&D, and really, other than hit this/defend master/Spellcaster casts spells, I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing :)

Why don't the actions queue a la KOTOR? Why do attack rolls feature as X+Y =Z? Hmm? Is there any way, other than the AI mod, of having characters automatically use a ranged weapon when appropriate? Can I turn off the chat window only? Is the strange overturning effect in driving mode just my problem or does everyone turn 180 degrees when they want to turn about twenty..?

They do, but only for spells, as far as I know. I haven't ever been concerned with more advanced queuing, so I don't know for sure if there is or isn't a way.

The first number is a random number between 1 and 20. The second number is the bonus. In order to hit, the attack roll has to be greater than or equal to the armor class of the opponent. It's basically the same thing with various other checks, such as disarming traps or saving throws, but instead of rolling against the AC of the opponent you roll against the difficulty class (DC) of the object, ability, or spell. Most non-combat checks (such as opening locks out of combat) automatically 'take 20', where the initial die roll (to get a number between 1 and 20) is foregone and 20 is used.

Have them wield a bow? I think you have to manually switch weapons, unfortunately, but they should use any weapon you give them. You could expedite things by using hotkeys for their weapons.

    No clue, sorry.

There's a slider for adjusting how fast you turn via the keyboard now. It's still not as slow as I'd like it, but it's better than it was.

    Iagree I'm disapointed they didn't make the world feel more alive. Howver in this bit;

'For instance, there is a 'follow' choice of near, medium, or far, but not a 'no.' Thus, if you need to edge your thief up to peek around a corner, you will get your party members running up to you like dumb labrador retrievers, acting like they're looking for you to throw a stick. Invariably, these doofs will get seen by someone you didn't want to see them, and a battle will begin without you being at all prepared for it'

He is totally wrong - what does he think the 'stand your ground' command is for?

From my experience it's for making other characters run after you, just with a slight delay. :)

(Yes it does work properly sometimes.)

Heh :p I've never had any problems with it. One thing you can't do, though, is use the command then switch characters: the character you were in when you gave the command will not have received it, and will follow the new one you are controlling.

pause, switch character, issue the command again. Not *that* hard really.
