Well if you check out the E3 trailer, there are shadows. I even see shadows casted by gun fire like this one.

However there're places where I see no shadows at all, so I guess it depends on where you are.

    About Mercs 2.

    Xbox 360, 1080p, PixelPerfect mapped.

    High Traffic Images! 4+MB each.

IMO there's 2AA at 1280x720 plus some heavy DOF and BLUR.

P.S. If images are not properly dome to retermire resolution - I can take them again.

it's seem like 675p no AA, you are sure it's without overscan? (because 720p game with overscan look exactly 675p on my TV)

Quaz, do you mean Quincunx regarding the Wipeout AA? It always had a soft look to it, now I would know why.

Can we say "Anisotropic Filtering"? Anyone? I guess not :( How costly is it really, that games will go without even on just the ground texture?

Game looks horrible either way. Look at the bushes. It's clearly less of a performance thing, more of a poor graphics engine thing.

Mercs2 360 seems to have some weird edge filter. At first I thought it was DOF, but it affects foreground and background object edges only. It curiously affects that palm tree's shadow too. And under very close scrutiny, the ground texture seems to have *slightly* better filtering.

Is the game really going to be true 1080p? Because at 60fps and with those great looking visuals... that's insane! o_O

Anyone checked the Pure demo yet? Looks similar in PS3/360, except for more AA in the 360 it seems, but I can't do a side by side comparison.

Not that hard to believe. :] GT5P was 1280x1080 60fps, but the car models are far more detailed than these ships in Wipeout. I don't see why it can't do full 1080p 60fps with the much simpler geometry.

Also, there's fairly little on screen in both Wipeout and GT. That's the reason fighters, racers and even linear adventure games like Uncharted have the more incredible graphics.

GT5P can have up to 16 cars on screen (usually only in the early part of a race). but yeah, i wouldn't call that little.

And with 16 cars on screen the FPS drop.
