2x would look a lot worse. 4x can be really good, but it can still have aliasing issues if you're really picky. I mean, there is a reason for those higher AA modes on PC.

The entire image appears to be affected by motion blur.

okay :) the textures seem very flat and unsharp though, i don't think that's caused by the blur alone.

Well, certainly, the bottom half of the exposed road is showing motion blur. there's also some reflection it seems, indicating a wet surface. Contrast this to the cars, which are in-focus, and they look as sharp as can be.

yep, i was thinking though, since i've played the demo as well, the screenshot doesn't do the game justice. there are some tracks more off-road that have nice dirt that sticks to your car and the like. the track itself looks a lot better than that too, with or without blur, i can't remember.

all in all i don't remember it being that blurry at all, strange thing.

When you compare it to forza 2 wich runs at 720p 2x, this definetly looks like more I would bet on 4x but thats just me.

im pretty sure sega rally was done in the older upscale thread. both versions were virtually identical except for the vegetation. sorry not much help as i forgot how much AA was used, but both were 720p iirc.

Presumably you need to force 1080p for that mode (i.e. it's a compatibility mode for older HDTVs sans 720p)?

The Narnia demo and the Facebreaker demo you don't need to force 1080p by deselecting 720p in the settings. They use 1080p if you've selected that aswell as 720p in the settings.

Just like Burnout: Paradise, Uncharted, Warhawk... But one game that I haven't been sure about for a while, after checking the main game resolution list, is Ratchet & Clank Future. Yes, it's 1280x704 2xAA in 720p mode, but has it been tested in 1080p?

I also wonder about UT3 and Turok PS3 in 1080p. It'd be interesting if all these came out to be the weird 960x1080 resolution as well.

No, on these you'd have to force 1080p by deselecting 720p in the settings. If you have both 720p and 1080p selected those games will use 720p as they are 720p games. The European version of Uncharted doesn't even have the 1080p option (it's only upscaled 720p anyway and all EU HDTV handle 720p)

does 960X1080 with horizontal scaling look better than 720p ? I know it has more pixel but would the scaling cause the lost of sharpness? Seems like lots of games support 960X1080 still pick 720p over it.

Last time I played them, you couldn't even force them to scale to 1080p.

And what's the point anyway? To be frank, scaling sucks unless it defaults to it like MGS4. It's quite like Quaz pointed out.

And please don't try make anyone believe Uncharted isn't native 720p again....it's almost insulting.

I believe I already know what B3D's first reaction will be, sadly.
Just curious about a native resolution on these.
Some Heavy Rain shots. The resolution looks a bit odd, though.

The background blur looks very low-quality, though. It seems somewhat believable.

DoF is just blur at its core, once all is said and done.
    And that's a fairly low-fidelity blur.

You said the blur was low quality, what quality do you want for a blur? Do you want a high resolution sharp blur?

There is no alaising present at all that I can see, so they are clearly "bullshots".

I must say though that if the final game looks like that with alaising it's still going to be one fine looking game.
