Quaz, what's the method for figuring this stuff out? Is there a tutorial out there, or maybe...Could you write one?

I feel bad about everyone always making you do all the investigating. >.>

I would imagine that he comes with a strong PC background if it isn't a developer of sorts. I would play with options for hours on end when I was into upgrading my rig and look at settings. I only play Trackmania on my PC now though. Even then, you can change settings. Some are dramatic, some require a watchful eye.

I would think that Quaz51 doesn't mind doing all this pixel counting at all. He probably likes the attention and reverence he gets as being the number one authority on all things related to pixel quality. Either that, or takes a sadistic form of enjoyment out of exposing and humiliating the dirty little secrets of developers and their games.

    fine ;)

One moment (while I do the dirty work you all don't want to do ;))

Here were the original posts (mostly pertaining to Potter's weird resolution)

    http://forum.beyond3d.com/showpost.php?p=1065791&postcount=225

    http://forum.beyond3d.com/showpost.php?p=1065280&postcount=222

Honestly, Quaz has explained before how he does his counting. Good eye for the usual cases, more inspection for the weird ones. Count the steps per pixel over a range of pixels and determine a ratio (horizontal/vertical). Just read his posts. If you're interested enough, just search his posts. We've had lots of people ask the same question, and all they ahve to do is look at Quaz's posts.

Recently even, you can see how he tries to determine the presence of Quincunx on the output of a screenshot (not necessarily pertaining to a screenshot taken directly).

    http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=43330&page=11

the more simple is to used a good grab system and used screenshot, no need to count pixel, just count some step, it's quickly

It'd be great if you could link the specific posts. Not everyone has the same settings for "posts per page"
