Need some assistance understanding the mathematical logic behind this chart/graph.

    It's from an old role playing game called "Wild West". To figure out your chance of success on percentile dice, you take a ruler from the experience side and run in thru the CV value (Characteristic Value), then the percentage chance is given on either A,B, or C column.

    The A scale is if the task is extremely hard.

    The B scale is if the task is difficult.

    The C scale is if the task is routine.

    So I'm wondering what is this type of chart/graph called and how it's created?
