More data on the GeForce 8800 random slowdown bug

    Yesterday the good folks at The Tech Report reported on an issue affecting a good chunk of GeForce 8800 users, where 3D graphics performance would fall into the toilet at random and wouldn't come back until you restarted the game or tabbed out and back in.<br />

    this must be the open gl problem with jedi academy and call of booty.

    The texture evict memory issue makes 'sense', and is a platform for other issues, too. It certainly explains the slow-downs, lock-ups, and artifacts in F.E.A.R. as well, and probably is why Half-Life 2 doesn't work.... here's hoping the new official driver (162.18 on XP's behalf) fixes around this...
