You left too soon; Theses problems were solved with the instancing zone. When a raid is designed for 36 players, you can't bring more now than 36 in the zone (like LDON raids)

On the last expansion (GoD) you have a lot of trials designed for 6 men force and the raids are limited at 54 players. And the limit is a hard limit, when a raid starts, an instance is created and you just can't add one more player to the raid. So designers can balance content against player force as that player force is hard capped.

I took a look at a couple of mmorpg and they all have sucky character designs. Care to point me to a game that has it done better.

also what game sites are good for (p)reviewing mmorpg's? gamespot and gamespy kinda suck for this.

The enviroment in EQ2 looks great but on screenshots the character models look a bit like plastic dolls.

Did you see that 200mb teaser movie? I was a bit surprised because once you see them in motion, the characters don't look half as bad as the screenshots would suggest. The great animations really go a long way of making them look more life like. They have animated eyes and all. Pretty impressive.

It's a big download for a mere 60 second flick but its quite interesting.

Also, character customization will be awesome compared to the joke that L2 is, where you have even less choices than in a 5 year old game like EQ. Everyone is looking so damn near identical, it's creepy. It's a world of clones. The extremely limited diversity in equipment and armor only adds to this. Frankly, I'd rather take a plastic doll than the clone of a clone of a clone. Plus, the animations in L2 are craptacular.

that was something i noticed about eq2 the characters generally look different, where as in l2 they all tend to be the same. I have to take a closer look, but eq2 _right now_ has better looking characters. Im looking though for better animation.

What about character customization in WoW? I had heard that it was pretty lacking but haven't looked into this myself.

I'm a big fan of City of Heroes. I typically give up on MMOs pretty quickly, but this one's keeping me around. I've even started creating additional characters, which I never did in FFXI and other titles.
